Rating: Summary: Great book! Worth every penny and more. Review: Dr. Kevin Leman does an excellent job describing how to raise our kids while building thier independence and self image. He gives pratical examples and a useful list of home responsibilites for a wide range of ages. If you have kids you got to read this book. I am only sorry I did not read it earlier.
Rating: Summary: pie in the sky Review: Dr. Leman is a typical writer who can only think within his own personal world. He has no concept of what life is like for those of us who have a spouse who is not like Dr. Leman, nothing at all like him. These idealistic ideas of Dr. Leman's are just so much fluff. Dr. Leman thinks everyone lives in his wonderful world. Shame on him for taking the money from hard working people who just want to do their best to raise their children inspite of all the obstacles in their own households.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for finding a balance between love and limits. Review: Dr. Leman presents a well thought out guide for helping develop proper discipline techniques, nurturing a child's self esteem, and teaching children how to grow into responsible, healthy adults. He gives specific ideas for handling challenges in "real world" situations. He even points out mistakes he has made and talks about things that have worked or not worked with his own kids.

Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Worth a read! Review: I am a mother of 9 months. It's interesting to read through all chapters. I like the chapters on Encouragement and Dealing with Feelings most! Highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: Advice makes sense Review: I love this book. I have many parenting books and this one is by far my favorite. The advice on discipline is priceless--no yelling or getting into major debates with your children. I have already used several of the suggestions with my niece and it has worked like a charm. Buy this book!!

Rating: Summary: If you came from a less than functional family, read this. Review: My husband and I are weeks away from having our first baby and we both been reading this book with great interest. We both come from dysfunctional families and have at least 15 parenting books --- this book is, BY FAR, the most intelligent source of parenting advice we have come across. I can barely get through a paragraph without getting excited about how much sense it all makes and how much confidence this book has instilled in me. I feel much more ready to take on the amazing responsibility of raising a child without repeating negative patterns.
