Summary: Good and Angry: Exchanging Frustration for Character in You
Review: I feel this book has really helped me get a handle on my anger and my families anger in our every day lives. I feel the religious base helps me apply the teachings to help my children growup to be well ajusted and sucessful adults.

Summary: Another great title from Scott and Joanne
Review: I have read all of Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller's books and they get better with each new publication. I have read many parenting books, but this one gives the most practical answers to tough parenting issues. Anger is a sticky subject for many parents and we bring so much into our parenting styles from our past. The authors do a great job of teaching you to utilize anger in a positive way. I really like their thoughts about not jumping into "the ring" with your child. Kids know how to push our buttons, but we do not have to let them.

I highly recommend all of their books as practical solutions for parents. Thanks for allowing me to review!

Summary: Practical
Review: I have read all three of the authors books and I've found this one to be the most helpful.

It didn't take me long in my parenting career to figure out that most issues with our children are ones that are solvable, once we look internally. What this book in particular helped me to realize was that my reaction to my son's disobedience is so very important. To respond in anger sends the wrong messages. The authors give you practical ways to react to disobedience and they guide you in managing your responses.

There are so many helpful ideas in this book. In a nutshell, I would highly recommend it to any parent.

Summary: HONOR IS THE BASIS TO PARENTING
Review: I recently saw Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller do a seminar with the same title as this book, Good and Angry, after which I purchased the book and their 2 other books, How to Stop Whining and Complaining in You and Your Kids and 8 Steps to Effective Parenting. They have been a phenomenal foundation for raising kids from toddlers to teens. They dig right to the basis of what parenting is really about. I have since bought several copies of this book and given it to friends and family members. In today's society of rush-rush-rush, we spend less time really getting to the heart of challenges with our kids and just look for the "quick fix." Scott and Joanne help us to raise our kids with pure hearts and thinking minds. Only then they will CHOOSE to make good life decisions.

Summary: Change Your Life!!
Review: I want to encourage people to buy this book. It is a life-changer if you are experiencing problems with disciplining your children. Being a parent is difficult, and it is too easy to get frustrated and angry with your children because you don't know how to handle all the situations that come up. This book gives you a way to, first of all ,deal with your own anger, and remain calm so that you can deal with the issues that come up with your children. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: For the Love of God
Review: If you're a heavy-duty Christian, you may love this book. But I couldn't make it through the first chapter because of wading through so much religion. I've read many parenting books by Christian authors before and found some of them helpful after I waded through the religious references, but this book is ALL religious references. I threw mine in the garbage.

Summary: The authors run the Center for Biblical Parenting
Review: In case it's not clear from the book description, these folks run the Center for Biblical Parenting, and are some of the many out there who believe they can use their interpretation of the Bible to dispense parenting advice. I haven't read the book, and it may be just great. But I do think full disclosure is important, and nowhere in the book and author description do they disclose their affiliation with the Center for Bibilical Parenting.

Summary: A great addition to your parenting toolbox
Review: Like other books by Turansky & Miller, this book is a deceptively easy read. There are so many great ideas--practical, easy to implement ideas--that I could only read the book a bit at a time in order to let the information soak in! My children are young preschoolers and the information presented is appropriate for them and will continue to be applicable as they grow older. I appreciate that Turansky & Miller's approach works to change the "Heart attitude" not just outward behavior. I've recommended this book to many of my friends. No matter what issues you are dealing with with your kids, I think you will find tips that help you become a better parent--the parent you want to be.
