Summary: best book for women thinking about divorce
Review: This was the best of several books about divorce that I read prior to taking that big step. The author takes you chronologically thru the process: the years you wish your spouse would just sort of disappear (or worse), the doubts about whether you should try to hold things together, the time you first say to yourself the "D-word." Then there are so many practical things (like getting a rental mailbox so you can carry on correspondence without it going to your house), and not telling your husband until you are ready (you have copies of all your financial documents, you've had any dental work or surgery you may be needing, you've bought clothes to interview for a job in if necessary)...Later chapters deal with male rage, children and visitation, and legal matters. Finally, there's the relief and starting your new life. I've passed this book on to several women friends, with great feedback.

Summary: This literally SAVED MY LIFE
Review: While in a 10-year physically abusive marriage, I hid this book, reading it at any safe opportunity I had. It helped me clarify my thoughts, realize my needs, not to mention realizing that fact that I actually had needs AND DESIRES! Reclaim your life and read this book - even if you have to keep it at work or at a friends house. By the time I moved out (literally, ran away one morning), I realized that I had been secretly preparing my escape for a long time. Learning to Leave teaches you to prepare emotionally and financially. I was extremely surprised at how easy the whole process was, and a HUGE part of it is due to reading Learning to Leave. - THANK YOU Lynette Triere!!!
