Rating: Summary: Unassisted Homebirth ; An Act of Love Review: This book is wonderful resource for parents searching for an alternative to the fear-based obstetricly managed birth culture today. Lynn Griesomer does an excellent job of presenting the pros and cons and reasons for and against this contravertial method of birthing. Most importantly it really addresses the philsophy and phycology behind ones motivations for this type of birth. I applaud Lynn's fantastic work on unassisted homebirth and all that that book has done for the unassisted community and beyond.
Rating: Summary: This book made me proud! Review: This book was one of my recommendations on amazon.com and when it came up I had to get it! My husband and I have three children all of which were DIY's. I had begun to feel almost ashamed at our choice because of all the negative reaction that I get and I had resigned myself never to talk about it. That all changed when I read this book! You see, I had begun to doubt the fact that we were in fact responsible and informed and trusting in the design of birth and it's Designer. But after reading this book I realized that there are others out there just like us who choose not to believe the myths of childbirth and refuse to submit ourselves to this country's assembly-line obstetric "care" just because everyone else is doing it. I no longer feel alienated or like a rebel, but I feel proud - proud of myself, proud of my husband, proud of my children and proud of my God! This book is an excellent read. It is well-thought out, well-researched and well-written. It also provides many resources and other information you can obtain if you want a DIY birth. It is practical and real, and romantic and sensual. If only every woman could read this book! If you are undecided about whether or not to check it out...buy it, read it - you'll be glad you did! It may just change the way you view birth....and life!
