Rating: Summary: Let's Have Healthy Children Review: I was given this book in 1970 when our son had behavioral problems in Kindergarten. What a blessing! It was my introduction to the study of nutrition. I have since given the book to expectant mothers and each without fail has told me they treasure the information gained from it. The index makes it very easy to look up any question. Adele Davis was the mother of the natural food movement. A very thorough investigator of body chemistry. I hope it is soon to be reprinted. A new generation awaits.
Rating: Summary: Let's Have Healthy Children Review: In this classic book for child nutrition, Adele makes understanding how to keep your child healthy so simple. Her story of how she brought both her adopted children back to health is touching and eye-opening. This is a Must Read for any Mother or Mother-to-be. It also gives you great insight applied to yourself. Keep your children and yourself healthy using information that works. It may have been published a while back but the information is still sound today. Human Bodies have not changed that much since she wrote this. In fact, doctors and health professionals just keep (re)discovering the basic truths she wrote about here. Alergies, asthma, building strong bones, preventing colds...is all here. This should be the primary healthcare book for keeping kids well. Give that index a good look. It is the quickest way to solving problems. Doctors should refer to this one and Let's Get Well first.

Rating: Summary: Let's Have Healthy Children Review: LOVED it!!! So informative. I don't understand why this book is out of print. This info is just as valid today as it was when she wrote the book. I plan on doing my utmost to discover why this book is not being reprinted. And see what I can do to change this.

Rating: Summary: Let's Have Healthy Children Review: This book has been a lifesaver! I own two copies, both belonged to my mother who purchased them when she had her children. They have been a valuable addition to my referance library. All of my pregnant friends call with nutritional questions that this book has answered accurately. I am amazed that no one recomends this book for pregnant women to read since this is the best nutritional guide I have seen. It is the perfect gift for all those who are expecting, or already have children.
Rating: Summary: Let's Have Healthy Children Review: This book is by far the very best book about nutrition during pregnancy, and early childhood. Adelle discusses how poor nutrition can cause homely children, and low I.Q. scores and a host of other "common" childhood problems. Premature birth, small birthweight, jaundice, SIDS, colic. . . all can be totally eliminated by doing what she teaches! I have two very healthy boys, both weighed 8 lbs at birth. My Nutrition was better the second time (after reading her book which I purchased used at a local thrift store for 50 cents) I had a great home birth, and have a beautiful boy who was totally breastfed for six months, and skipped commercial baby food altogether. I am just sick about not knowing this information with my first son from the beginning. I read everything I could get my hands on regarding pregnancy, childbirth, nutrition, breastfeeding and none of these popular, current books told me even half of what I gathered in just my first quick scan of this book! I am really desparate to get some new copies for some friends and for myself-- my copy is yellowed with age and the pages are brittle! I suggest this one even if you get NO other book during your entire childbearing years!

Rating: Summary: A dangerous book Review: This is a dangerous book. As a paediatrician I have treated one patient whose parents followed the advice in this book. They fed their infant nothing but barley water and goats milk and he ended up with a severe blood disorder due to vitamin deficiency. He is lucky not to have been brain damaged. At least one child has died after his parents followed the advice of Adelle Davis and gave him potassium to treat infant colic (her estate was successfully sued). There have been numerous other instances of children becoming very sick from following her advice. Do not buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Breastfed Twins Review: Though her research is 50 years old she has some interesting theories on how nutrition affects your childs appearance and health. A good read!
