Rating: Summary: Awesome Follow-Up to Her First Book Review: If you read _Take Time for Your Life_ and thought, this book is soo great, but I don't know how to organize this, then you want this book. Richardson takes the steps presented in her first book and breaks them down into 52 tasks (neatly designed to take 1 year obviously). The titles to the chapters are catchy, the exercises are useful, helpful, and not designed to take massive chunks out of your life, in fact, they are designed to put more time in your life, I think. Her style is easy and not too preachy -- she makes this fun as changing your life should be. Consider this a personal consultation with Cheryl Richardson (with a much lower price tag) :)
Rating: Summary: OK but really nothing new Review: In a world full of self-help books, most of which may provide motivation but mostly state what is already obvious, I don't find that this much-ballyhooed book adds all that much. Sure, it has some good practical advice, but there is nothing in here that I haven't heard a million times before (be better organized, achieve a better balance, etc etc). Read The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and then forget about this genre until someone comes along with something truly enlightening, which this author has not.
Rating: Summary: Great Guidance and Advice Review: It is a shame that some of the reviewers here have obviously misunderstood the book. According to Cheryl, cleaning your office does more than help you to work more efficiently. If you read closer, she is saying how cleaning your work space, and therefore some of the physical clutter in your life, allows for better things to come in, and not necessarily in the form of more efficient work. The clutter drains some energy, not allowing you to focus on what you'd rather be focused on. So, contrary to some of the reviews here, the information is far from basic and trite. It really makes you take a new approach to handling your life, and ultimately offers you a chance for true fulfillment, whether it be spiritually, financially, etc. You need to be on a different level to really appreciate Chery'l work. You need to be able to look beyond the obvious and appreciate the magic in life. Give this book a shot. You'll be glad you did! I know I am!
Rating: Summary: A joy Review: It's very helpful to have a guide of what to do. If we make only one improvement per week in a year's time, we will have a happy attitude toward everyone and everything. I enjoy the 'synergy journal' technique in Chris Alexander's book Creating Extraordinary Joy. That helped me realize what's really important in my life.
Rating: Summary: Your New Years Resolution: A Book for Yourself Review: Its better than having your own personal coach. I read TakeTime for Your Life, and this is another hit, an easy read. Hasmanageable timeframes and goals. This is self-management at itsbest. Would be a great christmas gift for your girl~friends. You willtruely learn so much about yourself.
Rating: Summary: Same for less + not my book Review: Ok I haven't read it, but I know her style and it's more to feel good. If you want the book anyway, just subscribe to her newsletter (cherylrichardson.com). To get to know your so called authentic self than read Phil McGraw, but beware he can be harsh!
Rating: Summary: If it's good enough for Oprah, it's good enough for you! Review: Oprah Winfrey not only takes her responsibility to her viewers and fans seriously, she takes it personally. She would never want to betray their trust by giving them information that doesn't significantly make their lives better. She also doesn't suffer fools gladly. Cheryl Richardson in this book as in her previous book more than passes the Oprah "sniff" test. And for good reason. Cheryl doesn't need your permission to tell you exactly how it is in your life, why you're stuck and most importantly what you need to do to get unstuck. She obviously knows that time doesn't heal. Truth heals. Cheryl knows the truth and to her credit knows that until you know specifically in a step by step way how to change, that you probably won't. She gives you those steps. Unlike so many self-help books that seem to be missing something, it's easy to fully "buy in" to her message, because it feels right, makes sense and is doable. Who could ask for anything more? Buy, read and use this book to get more of what you want, sooner--- that is of course unless you're happy settling for getting less (or nothing at all), later.
Rating: Summary: Paid money for this???? Review: Read this book cover to cover while my wife was taking a shower. That should give an idea of how little there is here. How the author turned this into 52 ways to improve I'll never know. Mostly this book seems designed for those looking for a simple answer to complex problems and who are in jobs where you can get away with crazy solutions. She mentions often about putting yourself first by ignoring phone, email, etc. How many of us can actually get away with not returning phone calls for a week? We'd all be looking for jobs. Then there's the suggestion of telling someone they have two minutes to complain. How do you know it's a whine until you listen? My boss actually implemented this policy. It kept people from bringing problems to him, but it did NOT keep the problems from occuring. She presents a lot of pretty solutions with no real data to back them up. Sounds good, feels good, means little. Pretty much anyone who thinks this lightweight title can change their life needs more help than this book can give. If you're already beyond grade school answers, other books are better. Start with Stephanie Winston -- a classic.

Rating: Summary: Good to Know Review: The author comes across very direct. She tells you what is wrong and how to correct it. She feels that only truth heals. She offers valuable solutions to some of our common problems. I gained significantly from reading the book. I would also highly recommend the book An Encounter With A Prophet where much healing truth also abides.
