Rating: Summary: I want to be like Barbara Rowley! Review: I want to be like Barbara Rowley whose book Baby Days is a record of her life with her daughter Anna during their first three years together. Barbara has made a career out of devising great ways to have fun with kids. The terrific thing about this book is that it's organized by type of activity and age. What harried parent hasn't thought, "oh sure, finger painting is wonderful, but what I really need is something to keep her busy while I'm cooking dinner." That's where Baby Days comes in. There are chapters for leisurely morning activities, meal and naptime ideas, and even sections on what to do in the car or on the plane. Each chapter's activities are also grouped by age, so it's easy to find something that will work for you and your child. Add to that the "prep time" and "messiness quotient" listings and you've got a recipe for success! Best of all, many of the activities only require a little energy and imagination or items usually found around the house. There's truly something here for everyone. This book inspired me to set up a reading nook (it's SO much more fun to read in a tent while lounging on pillows!) create a special hideaway and an activity box and put together a craft cupboard, among many other things. If those long days at home have got you down, it's time to get out of the baby daze and get this book!
Rating: Summary: Most of it is what a typical mother would come up with. Review: I was dissappointed for the most part. The book is divided into times of day which is nice, but it would be more helpful if it were divided into ages or stages. I haven't found anything in it that I actually couldn't come up with myself...like have your baby stare at something blowing from a fan or by the window...pretty basic. I found more creative games and resources on the internet...for FREE.
Rating: Summary: PERFECT BOOK FOR PARENTS OF TODDLERS Review: I'm a fan of Barbara Rowley's articles in FAMILY FUN magazine, so I rushed out to buy this book. I don't know where she comes up with these all these ideas -- but they're greaaat. Just what you need to have on hand when the playdough runs out. I'm buying copies for all the moms in my play group!
Rating: Summary: Lots of good ideas Review: If you are looking for some structured ideas, laid out completely, buy this book. I found a lot of great ideas in here. The only thing I don't really like is the author's semi-preachy style of writing. Ignore that and use this as a resource for some fun time with your toddler.

Rating: Summary: I love this book! Review: This book is exactly what I needed - its full of fresh, creative, and wonderful ideas of things I can do with my child. I pull it out on those days when we are both bored and driving each other crazy - I don't know how I would survive without it now that I have a busy, curious, and easily bored two year old around! We have so much fun with this book and I highly recommend it to every parent out there!
Rating: Summary: Looks good Review: Took this book out of the library first and was impressed. Now I have ideas what to do with my 15 month old son when we are home over the Xmas holidays. The messyness factor is a very good idea.
Rating: Summary: keeps evreyone happy! Review: What a great resource! Fun, easy, inexpensive ways to entertain your baby and toddler while enriching their brain development and saving your sanity. A must read!
Rating: Summary: How my days with baby inspired Baby Days Review: You get a lot of advice when you have a new baby. I know: As a contributing editor to Parenting and Family Fun Magazines, as well as a former camp director and teacher, I've dispensed my fair share. But when I had my daughter Anna, four years ago, I found the advice on what to do with her surprisingly thin. The experts told me television was bad, and books were good. But this wasn't much help with a nine month old more inclined to eat or throw the books I offered than have them read to her. Baby Days is the record of all the alternative ideas for fun Anna and I found or invented together during her first three years. Organized around the typical day in the life of a family with a young child, Baby Days shares the inexpensive and easy-to-do amusements that we started to find everywhere, from the bath, to the car, to the outing at the grocery store. Some are silly--like turning Post It notes into finger puppets and wall decorations--and some are educational, like playing alphabet hopskotch or creating geometric patterns with cheese and crackers. But in trying these activities out, I hope readers will find themselves connecting with their babies in new ways and enjoying these years--so important, and so quick to pass by--even more.
