Summary: Looks cheaply done, not a good keepsake item
Review: I bought another one that was more of a keepsake photo album and book (also from Amazon.com).
This is more of a day-to-day calendar idea. It is small and spiral bound. Good for working grandma's to use as a desk calendar or to start their morning.
But for a longterm keepsake, I would not recommend it.

Summary: Grandma *loved* it!
Review: I bought this book for my grandma for Christmas, and she's really enjoyed filling it out! It brought back so many memories of things she said she hadn't thought about in years. She got so interested in it that she filled it out way ahead and gave it back to me in time for my birthday! My grandma won't last forever, but I'll always treasure this book.

Summary: Great Mother's Day gift from your newborn!
Review: I purchased two books to give to both of my daughter's Grandmothers as a Mother's Day gift from her. The books are compact, but carry a lot of sentimental value. What's particularly nice is that the pages of the book are big enough to provde detail on each day, but also small enough to fit into Grandma's purse! I definitely recommend this journal.

Summary: Nice idea, wish it were a little different
Review: I wanted to give grandmother's journals to both of my daughter's grandmothers. However, since I coulnd't preview these books in town (only 1 found in all of our local bookstores!) I bought 2 different ones so I could better compare them. I ordered this book and "Grandmother Remembers: A Written Heirloom". One of the reasons I liked "Grandma, Tell me your stories" is that it was one of the few that were a "question a day" format. I thought one a day would be easier to get in the habit of completing a grandma's journal since it would just be a little bit each day. I've heard some people who've bought versions that are not one a day say they often start, but have trouble completing them. I also like that it is small & spiral bound, because its easy to take with you & to turn pages. Each page has a question & otherwise blank space to write responses. Lines can be limiting. However, the size of the pages in this book is also limiting. I think short pages are good if you are giving this to someone who may not like writing down the details, but if you're trying to get the "whole story" some of these pages will not have near enough rooom. If you want more of a full page journal I definitely reccommend "Grandmother Remembers, a written heirloom" instead. (However, that book is not a quesiton a day)

RE: the questions. . .they are themed to the time of year (graduation questions in May, school memories in Sept/Oct, summer vacations in summer months) which is kind of neat. But, I agree with another reviewer that some of the questions are kind of strange & will not apply to everyone. Other questions are simply more yes/no rather than inspiring more reflection, which I'm not sure I like either. Overall, not a bad little journal if short & simple is what you want or if you definitely prefer the "one a day" questions. However, having bought both books, I think I definitely prefer "Grandmother remembers" instead.

Summary: This is excellent book to share memories & pass to others.
Review: Somewhat of a journal, this is an excellent way to share fond family memories and pass on. Some of the topics are can be too specific for various cultures and backgrounds. Overall the book is superb!

Summary: Grandma, Tell Me Your Memories
Review: The idea of the book is great. I like that it is set up for a question of the day, but felt some of the questions pertain to only a small percentage of people, i.e. "Share a memory about a bat in the house."

I was disappointed in the size of the book itself. The pages are approximately 4X6 unlined pages with a date and question at the top. It does not have enough space to provide detailed answers to the questions. A book at least twice the size with lines would be more appropriate.

Summary: An excellent do-it-yourself journal of family history.
Review: We used this book with our bedridden mother as a daily activity with her caregiver who wrote the answers as Mother dictated.

At any age, in any physical condition, families benefit from intergenerational sharing.

For my family, it was particularly valuable to have a real task for our mother during her illness. The mental stimulation combated borebom and kept those grey cells active.

As we read the entries, we were surprised - after all these years - to learn things about Mother that she never revealed - fears, hopes, hidden talents.

I recommend this activity for any grandparent.
