Summary: It Really Takes a Brain and some Sense!!!
Review: Hillary Rodham Clinton has been praised and castigated for her simple-mindedness, and a previous reviewer argued that her ideas had merit, and that she wasn't anti-parent at all. Well, I don't think that her daughter Chelsea was raised by "the village," for whatever term that is. It's hard to separate the politics from the polemics, especially in light of her own secret agenda, and yes, she does have one. She is a die-in-the-wool socialist who would seek to restructure this nation and place children in the hands of the State, much like her idol nation - Communist (Red) China. In all honest, it really takes a brain and some sense to understand that it takes two dedicated and committed parents (a mom and a day, not same sexers) to raise a child. Those who would advocate a different agenda are the real enemies of the people, and I would include Ms. Clinton in that agenda. She doesn't know squat about how parents raise children. She espouses a pro-choice agenda, but she didn't abort her own daughter. She espouses a homosexual agenda to garner votes, but she is a lady married to a man. She speaks out of both sides of her mouth, and this polemic is clear and plain socialist rhetoric. Don't waste your time, or if you do want to learn about her, listen to it and make up your mind to take her out of politics for good.

Summary: Hillary Clinton dethroned
Review: As a supposed member of the vast right-wing conspiracy, I have blinded myself to who our former First Lady and current Senator from New York verily is. What this book offers, like nothing other of its kind, is a voice seemingly from Hillary herself. After breezing through the first couple of pages, Mrs. Clinton put herself in a vulnerable position as assuming the role of a mother and associating it with her most important role as a women. On that same token, however, Hillary acts as an independent women of the 21st century wherein she doesn't see herself as women caught in the cult of domecity. Clear polarizations shine through of her as a mother to Cliesa Clinton feeling the pains and joys of motherhood as all mothers do alike. As a member of the male sex I found most interesting the accounts Hillary reviles during her first few years in office; presenting them as short anecdotes that had me laughing out load. In what seemed to be the quintessential point in the novel, Hilary lets down her hair and discusses why she has kept the relationship with slick Willy in tact. Despite his moral vicissitude Hilary wants to help him better the country through her Healthcare Reform Bills - which, sadly went arye from the beginning - and maintain the her daughter emotionally by demonstrating how marriage can work. This amazing read forced me to finish it all within placing it down once, and shines clear as the best novel by a first lady since Mrs. Roosevelt.

Summary: an absurd book
Review: Hillary Clinton's ostensible support for children as posed by this book is utterly grotesque in the light of her support for many causes detrimental to the welfare of children.[...] her inability to tell the truth except when it serves her own ends is stamped over everything she touches. What village was Hillary in when 900,000 men, women and children--particularly the children of Rwanda were butchered while Bill Clinton was president? Don't waste your time on this book.

Summary: Stops short of the mark...
Review: Senator Clinton is one of my favorite people. She raised her daughter to the highest standards under very difficult circumstances. Chelsea is a model student and citizen and it it obvious that Hillary is a wonderful mother and role model, not only to her daughter, but to all women of America--and the world. If anyone knows about raising children and maintaining a healthy family atmosphere, it is Hillary Rodham Clinton.

While I think the book is a start, it doesn't go far enough. Where is the *direct* advocacy for alternative lifestyles? Why doesn't Hillary explain how much better off children are with nurturing, loving, permanent (or semi-permanent) child care advocates than they are with distracted, overwrought mothers and/or fathers? Why doesn't she propose more permanent care institutions for our children, allowing parents more flexibility in career and life choices?

While Clinton has forwarded the best agenda for our nation's children, she should have used her bully pulpit to take a bolder stance. I'm disappointed.

Summary: the American Village
Review: In "It Takes a Village", Hillary Clinton outlines the influence and importance of society with regard to children. Children mature as a reflection of their environment, and to produce most virtuous children, the "village" must also be virtuous. Clinton discusses child abuse and neglect, education, attachment between parents and their children, as well as many other avenues concerning the welfare of the future generation of Americans. "It Takes a Village" could be an excellent manifesto of the Senatorial goals of Hillary Rodham Clinton, and should be read by any concerned citizen.

Summary: A look into the 20th century socialist mind
Review: The Manifesto, updated for the 20th century. Well-meaning, but Mrs. Clinton obviously would like the federal government to be involved in every facet of our lives without any regard to where the money comes from. A must-read for capitalists who are tired of big government and high taxes.

Summary: An Enlightened Message for Families
Review: Hillary Clinton is first and foremost a mother, and she makes that clear with her book. She has also always been an advocate of the child in our world. From her early days in Illinois, to her education at Yale, she searched for answers to the question on how best to raise a child. Her work in the political arena reflects her continuing search to find legislation and policy that can have the most impact on raising a child to realize its full potential in the world as it is today. IT TAKES A VILLAGE documents this continued quest. We as a society, can learn much from reading the intelligent arguments from a woman regarded by many as one of the most influential women of her generation.

Summary: Investing in our future?
Review: Democrat, Republican, or Independent, it doesn't matter - "It Takes A Village" has a good message and touches upon a variety of issues regarding our society and children today. Though she does offer some Pollyanna anecdotes about her husband Bill and daughter Chelsea, the book is an enjoyable read and offers some great insights to how our country can rally together for our children.

Mrs. Clinton uses the analogy of the village as a place where the common good of all members, especially the children were taken into consideration and given priority as an investment to the village's future....she compares other nations and uses examples of how their social programs are focusing on children and how successful they appear to be. Mrs. Clinton also incorporates stories of her childhood and the era she was raised in; she does not boast but rather helps us to see how our society has changed and how desperately we need to make provisions to ensure some basics are again instituted in our culture. Mrs. Clinton stresses the importance of adults as role models, how neighborhoods have come together to push crime out of and reclaim their community, how important it is to have safe places to play and stresses the need for bipartisan support in government regarding our children and their education. The need for governmental supported programs for after school, etc. is also mentioned, and that the majority of the changes should start in the home. Mrs. Clinton makes us acutely aware of the media assault that are children are subject to, and that violence, sex and rape have become commonplace via television, music lyrics, and video games.

Mrs. Clinton also touches upon other timely subjects such as gun control, health care, and enhancing public policies to support parents and caregivers. It is evident in reading "It Takes A Village" that Mrs. Clinton has a message: that we need to come together as a society and raise our children collectively and with prudence as an investment in our future.

Summary: A Book Every Parent Should Read
Review: What a thought-provoking book! Mrs. Clinton shares her in-depth knowledge of child development, along with her ideas about how our society can better support families. Sprinkled throughout are vivid tales of her own parenting experiences. Anyone who thinks Mrs. Clinton is a left-wing extremist hasn't read this book. She offers more than rhetoric to support family values; she offers time-tested ideas from communities across the nation. Every parent, every citizen of our national community, should read this book.

Summary: Poorly Written
Review: Not very well written. Hillary wants to eliminate the roles of "mother" and "father" and instead turn children over to society at large. Bleh, socialist garbage. Also, numerous errors and incorrect references appeared throughout the text.
