Summary: a different view
Review: A somewhat different view of fatherhood with some helpful information. The authors description of what to anticiapte at each month is helpful. However, some of his perspectives are completely unique and alarming to me. Especially disturbing was the asserion that it was normal to be sexually aroused by your child. I truly believe the author has a different perspective and lifestyle than the average father in this country and there are many books that would be more worthwhile and legitimate - by Dr. Brazelton or Penelope Leach. Spend your time and money on these other authors.

Summary: Not a bad follow up to The Expectant Father
Review: Brott's follow up is almost as good as his first in this series. His humor and attitude is great--as is his advocacy for fathers to be involved.

I found the charts and index helpful when my wife and I had questions. I also liked the list of recommended kids books. Honestly, you can read a few months together and be fine. It's just nice knowing it's available on the bed stand, in case you need it!

Summary: Great for Dads -- and Moms, too
Review: Every time I talk to an expectant dad or a dad with a very young baby, I enthusiastically recommend this book. It's actually fun to read and, of course, very informative. He breaks down each month to let you know what is probably going on with the baby, the mom, and, of course, the dad. My wife used to like to have me read it to her and usually found things she didn't know -- and my wife reads A LOT, especially about babies. Most guys don't talk to other guys about the experience of having a little one. Reading this book is like talking to a buddy who's a baby expert (and occasional stand-up comic).

Summary: Perfection
Review: has been achieved, I think, with Mr. Brott's series of fatherly advice. There really isn't much to say that hasn't been said already except that he knows his stuff and he knows how to tell it to a guy. Bingo.

Summary: Great Book for DADS and an even better book for MOMS!
Review: I am the mother of a five month old hand full. Don't get me wrong he's wonderful but every now and then I could definitly use some help understanding him. This is the only book I seem to ever need. His father swears by it. He reads it every month, faithfully. And every month I ask him, "What does it say about this month?" I LOVE IT!

Summary: Finally - a book that speaks to New Dads
Review: I bought this book as a Xmas gift for my husband as we are expecting our first baby in April. He raved and raved about it. His major complaints with the many other pregnancy and parenting books were that a) they didn't seem to be talking to the father - just the mom or b) they assumed that the father was some inept, bumbling buffoon with regards to anything involving the baby.

This book talks about virtually all the emotions new dads encounter - fear, pride, love, jealously - everything, and it speaks directly to the dad. Brott sounds like a very loving father to his own kids and tries to send the message that being an affectionate, loving father is what being a "real man" is all about. Bottom Line: buy it now.

Summary: Great book for Dads!
Review: I got this book for my husband right before our son was born. I'm so glad I did. It's got great information on baby's development and really speaks to the dads from a dad's point of view. My husband thanks me every time he picks up the book!

Summary: This is a must have for dads
Review: I have really appreciated this book over the past 18 months, as my wife and I anticipated the birth of our child, and as he grew into a happy, bubbly one year old.

I've passed on copies to other fathers and will continue to share this wisdom with others.

There have been plenty of times I've reread chapters in anticipation of what was to come, dreaming of the time I would again be able to sleep through the night, hear my son call me "da", dance for the first time.

All of these events have occurred and are treasured in my heart.

This book helped keep me comfortable and informed through times of great change, great responsibility and overwhelming circumstances.

Moved by the sensitivity and good humor in the pages of this book, I respond by saying buy this book

A mans perspective in a field overflowing with women's experience based books is rare indeed.

Read the book and be reminded that there are other men in the world who take the time to consider their actions, take responsibility when appropriate and believe that having a child is the greatest growth experience a person can have, but only when they remain involved and loving.

Buy it for yourself, buy it for a friend.

Summary: Highly Recommended
Review: I purchased this a year ago when I first found out my wife was pregnant with our first child. The first book, covering pregnancy, was excellent! It covers all the bases: financial issues, emotions, how to help your wife, what to do when..., etc... The best descriptions of it are: comprehensive and readable
The second book covers the first year. I am reading it month by month, and find it matched the first book. The third book covers the toddler years. I read that when my daughter reaches that age. I have high expectations, based on the first two books.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great Help
Review: I use this as reference tool more than anything it helps me know what my daughter needs and what to expect from her it is well written and covers a wide variety of topics.
