Summary: Survival Guide
Review: This book truly is a God Send. I am a young single mother to a 5 week old baby boy. I picked up this book while at a bookstore. It is excellent! Patrice Karst mixes humor, inspiration and reality in this helpful book. It helped me to see that my situation is not my fault and that my son and I are not the ones to be blamed. I strongly recommend this book. It is one that no single mother should be without. Ms. Karst, you will be greatly rewarded by God for all you have done to help other single moms as well as raising your son to be a strong, loving young man. This book truly is the best, and I love the convienant size , small enough for me to carry in my purse so I can pull it out and re-read it when I am feeling down.

Summary: This book is a winner!
Review: As a single mom of 3 adopted children from China and Cambodia, and who also works full-time "outside" my home, I have little time for reading. "The Single Mother's Survival Guide" is a true gem. Patrice Karst is a single mom and I enjoyed her writing style tremendously. Each chapter is 2-3 pages so it's great to pick up when you have just a few moments. I leave it at bedside and plan to re-read a chapter a night. Afterall, she calls us single moms "godesses"! She offers this tip for helping with money issues. If you aren't too embarrassed, ask for the "single mother's discount" when you buy something. She says she gets it about 25% of the time. I think I'll try it when I buy a new car!
After I read it, I immediately ordered another book she wrote -- "God Made Easy"--can't wait for it to arrive.

She is an inspirational speaker. I'm keeping my eye out for her to come to Boston.

Summary: I laughed out loud!
Review: On one of the darkest days of my single motherhood I reread this book. What a pleasure! I laughed and cried and laughed and cried. I really want all my single girlfriends out there to get a hold of this book as fast as they can. Single mothers need to share with eachother and she has lots of love and humor for us. I enjoyed all her ideas and the Workbook at end helped me to put everything in perspective.

Summary: When you need the truth
Review: I just picked up this book at the library, and I couldn't put it down. It's a blessing that this book is out there...its a life saver. It tells you what you need to know about being a single parent, as well as providing the support we all need. It is very hard to raise, whether its one or ten, kids by ourselves and its great when we finally get praised for it instead of being turned against, such as much of society does. I want to tell all you single mothers (even you single dads) that if you need some help, sanity, or even a few laughs (it will definitely put a smile on your face)this is without a doubt a must read book. It helps everyone...it guides us mothers through everything you can imagine from what you can feed your kids(and not feel guilty), how to date, who else is a single mother, "to do" list to keep your sanity...and just about everything you can think of that comes with the territory of being a single mother. Read it and you'll put the book down with a sigh of relief, cause it proves you're not the only one out there.

Summary: From MY point of View
Review: This book gives the basics of managing life as a single mom. I found it particularly useful because it wasn't geared only towrds divorsed mothers, as most books are. She addresses single moms in general. I love this book. I have it on han at all times and refernce it frequently. Buy this book, it will answer so many of your questions an give you down to earth guidance. I hav purchased a great numebr of books on single parenting and in the end this is always the one I go back to.

Summary: The Single Mother's Survival Guide
Review: Wow! I had to wipe the tears of laughter away while i read this wonderful book! We need more writers like this.I began the book as a depressed single mom and finished it laughing and feeling strong and proud. Patrice Karst has written a book unlike the other single mom books- i own them all and hers is real, honest, funny and loving. I no longer felt alone because she deals with the reality of single motherhood. She isn't afraid to laugh at herself and tackles the real issues we all deal with. I felt myself wanting to pick up the phone and call her, as if she was a best friend. The world needs more women like her to encourage and empower women and mothers in such a male dominated society. Life can be hard and she offers a hand of encouragment with a lot of humor we all need. You go patrice! Good luck! Please write a sequal!

Summary: Good Book
Review: I picked this book for the simple humor of being a single mother. I needed a definite pick up and knowledge for myself that I wasn't the only one out there. My only disappointment would be the lack of information that wasn't provided in the book to where I could go for more support. Some parts of the book she made it sound so easy and other parts you could tell what struggles she had being a single mother. I would definitely read it if not just for the simple humor that every single parent needs to get through those really bad days. It will make you feel less alone and more confident that no matter what you can and will get through it on your own.

Summary: entertaining but not helping...
Review: When I first read all the great recommendations for this book I went out to every single store to find it, and finally found it at Amazon.com.
Once I had it I was very disappointed.
I couldn't really find answers to my questions or some kind of guidelines where to go to find support or help.
It is very humerous but that's about it.

Summary: A book that really hits home ....
Review: I originally ordered this book because of some issues with my child that I was having difficulty with and being a single parent , I wasn't sure how to go about handling it. Patrice's book really hit home with many of the topics touched upon and she made me realize that I am not the only single mom out there struglling with day to day trial and tribulations. This book put alot into perpsective for me and gave me hope that at some point ,things will improve and get better , it just takes time and to never give up hope and do the best you can, with what your given . Thanks Patrice !
