Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: Edward J. Carnot's book, Is your parent in good hands? is riveting. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down which is something that is more usual for suspense novels than for works of non-fiction. Using the story of what happened to his father as a framework, Mr. Carnot mixes suspense with solid information that will be helpful to anyone responsible for elderly relatives, whether they live nearby or across the country. Would-be writer's are advised to write about what they know. Mr. Carnot's experiences with his father provide the book with its emotional realism about what is involved in dealing with an aging parent, while his background as a lawyer ensures that the advice he gives is legally sound and practical. His writing skill is a bonus. I strongly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: A godsend for baby boomers Review: I am only one of millions of baby boomers who are in the midst of having to face difficult healthcare decisions for aging parents. This book has absolutely defused the anxiety I've been living with for the past couple of years. I've shared the book with my brother and sisters, and we now feel much better prepared to work hand-in-hand with Mom and Dad to address the various issues they are experiencing. I'm so grateful for Is Your Parent in Good Hands? This book is mandatory for all those who need guidance and practical tools for taking care of aging parents. Thank you, Edward Carnot, for the peace of mind you have given me.
