Review: Great advice. A well researched book about curing headaches and migraines thru life-style adjustments. Refreshing to see another avenue than the standard Advil, Tylenol, Aleve etc.

Summary: My doctor was wrong!
Review: My doctor always told me that nutrition had nothing to do with headaches. Was he wrong! I modified my diet as recommended in the book - less fat, less sugar, more complex carbos, etc. Two weeks later my headaches were gone; After all these years of suffering needlessly. Summary: THE BEST WAY TO CURE ANY HEADACHE IS TO PREVENT IT!
Review: The book No More Headaches, No More Migraines is a practical self-help guide to alleviating headaches. It is based on a recent research study I conducted at Loma Linda University's School of Public Health, which resulted in a dramatic improvement in almost all patients. The book presents a new approach, called lifestyle modification, to treating headaches. Recurring headaches are often the result of a larger problem, which may be caused by a multitude of lifestyle factors. If these problems are ignored, your body's natural defense mechanisms may become exhausted and leave you susceptible to other, seemingly unrelated, chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, or even cancer. By finding and eliminating the causes of headaches, you will improve your immediate quality of life. But you will also decreases the risk of developing much more serious conditions that could await you many years down the road.

The results of my headache study were published in scientific literature, which received national attention and generated a flurry of headlines in the general press. Even national magazines, such as Prevention, Better Homes and Gardens, The Ladies' Home Journal, Men's Health, and Glamour, featured the Loma Linda University study and offered advise to headache sufferers. These articles were extremely important in alerting people to the lifestyle modification approach, but they were too brief to be of much practical value to headache sufferers. This book provides a comprehensive collection of materials; it explains the findings of the study and offers practical advise about how to alleviate chronic headaches. No More Headaches, No More Migraines is an extension of my clinical practice; it gives me a way to share my knowledge and experience with the thousands of headache sufferers who are beyond the scope of my practice.

I was trained in conventional medicine and neurology, but rather than pursuing a career as a practitioner of classical Western medicine, I have dedicated my work to the principle that the best way to cure a disease is to prevent it. But how can we prevent headaches? They seem to be triggered by a large assortment of seemingly unrelated factors, including certain types of foods, too much work and stress, lack of sleep, lack of exercise but also excessive exercise, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and a host of others.

My research showed that most of these seemingly unrelated triggers cause similar biochemical imbalances in the body. But rather than focusing on any of these imbalances in isolation and trying to correct them using special medications, the lifestyle modification approach looks at the headache problem from a fresh, new perspective. It provides specific techniques and strategies that can easily be incorporated into your busy daily routine and that are likely to bring about gradual lifestyle changes necessary to reverse your headache problem. Summary: Migraines for 30 years, until reading this book!
Review: This book is amazing! I had migraines for 30 years until reading this book. Over the years I tried every drug on the market, ending with Imitrex then Amerge. Even with Amerge I started half of all my days with a migraine. Now I have control over them and I no longer have them. Don't think that because you already eat well and are not overweight that the book won't help. I ate a good diet and wasn't overweight... I still had migraines and the book explained why. The Publishers Weekly review statement that "Their program, however, may seem too simplified and too general for longtime headache sufferers" is way off base! It's exactly what long term headache suffers need!

Summary: A SELF-HELP BOOK THAT REALLY WORKS!
Review: This book is very different from anything I have seen before. First, it links together all the known headache triggers into one simple picture. It is now very clear to me how stress, prolonged hunger, caffeine, high-fat food, or smoking all cause the same biochemical imbalances in the body, which lead to headache. But, most importly, the book offers very specific strategies an how to gradually change your lifestyle to prevent headaches from occurring. Its a great recipe for a healthier living free of headaches!

And what is even better as that every tip and every strategy given by the authors to achieve a gradual lifesytyle modification actually works in practice.
