Rating: Summary: Everything they said made perfect sense. Review: As a mother of only three children, I found that the way the Garcia-Prats were raising their family was amazing. The narrative style was a perfect way to pick up pointers and suggestions on how to make your family a true family. My favorite praise for my children now is "thank you for helping. That's how a family treats each other." My children beam as they discover how much fun it is to help each other. I no longer have to raise my voice as my children now know they have to take responsiblity for their actions. I was almost sad to finish the book. I only hope that there is a sequel to this book in the future!

Rating: Summary: One of the best parenting books around Review: I am a social worker who works with children, and as such, I read dozens of books on parenting, childcare, education and other child related topics. If I had to pick only 10 books a parent should read before having children, this would be on the list- To be read and reviewed again and again. This is not a "recipe" book for parenting, that lists a few catchy ways to teach a particular idea or principle (there are already a few dozen or so good books out there that are.) This is a book that focuses on the parenting principles needed to make up those recipies. The Garcia-Prat's wisdom is not only good for raising children but for living life as well. In fact, I found this book helped me in areas of my life that had nothing to do with children. A previous reviewer said these ideas are not easy to implement- s/he is correct! But good parenting and living a meaningful life takes an imense amount of difficult work, and that's part of what the Garcia- Prats are saying. Also, the spiritual dimension of this book is so gratifyingly honest and sincere that one hopes the Garcia-Prats will write yet another book on that topic alone. By the way- I would REALLY appreciate knowing when they'll be on TV- I went to three libraries just to track down a two page article on their family- YES, I loved the book that much.
Rating: Summary: This Book Spoke to Me Like No Other Review: I carefully scrutinize parenting books because there are so many out there, and sometimes the advice is misguided. The Garcia-Prats' book is the only one I've recommended over and over. In fact, I keep extra copies on hand to give to friends. My only complaint, or request, is that they have a follow-up book that discusses the "How To" angle in more detail. At the end of the book I was thinking, "Yes! I'm a believer!" But I was left hanging as to how to accomplish much of the harmony they discuss. Still, it's a book that leaves you feeling hopeful, not guilty.
Rating: Summary: I Too Can Do This Review: I first read this book a few years ago after seeing the authors and their sons on a local talk show. I found the book to be very inspiring and several of Mrs. Garcia-Prats' suggestions have stayed with me. This book reinforces the belief that expecting your children to help with siblings or around the house and be responsible for their own behaviour does not make you a bad parent. In fact, it makes you a good one. If the Garci-Prats can do it with 10 kids, I think my husband and I can handle our 4.

Rating: Summary: A common sense approach to raising your kids! Review: I really enjoyed this book! I admire this mother of 10 boys. I have three boys myself which really gives me perspective on how to manage a large family. I will never complain again about having "too many kids"!! It emphasizes how your marriage is crucial to making a good family. It encourages responsiblities in children. I have gotten so much from the book and have changed the way I do things for my kids for the good of the family! I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: well written but too preachy Review: I was hoping to find more practical, hands-on suggestions, but there were too many references to prayer, trust in God, etc. That's fine and I'm glad it works for them, but I want more problem-solving solutions, in the vein of case studies and postulates, rather than anecdotes and answered prayers.
