Summary: Great Potty Training Guidance
Review: I found this book to be very informative especially for a first time parent. There's so much to choose from in the stores that it's hard to know what item to purchase, let alone what products offer the most value. I especially found that true of the potty training section of this book. I had actually purchased a potty before getting the Toddler Bargains book and found out that the potty I had purchased was a poor performer, especially for boys. Fortunately, the potty was still in its box and I was able to exchange it. I wish I had used the sister book also written by Fields, Baby Bargains. Regardless, I'm glad I purchased this book. These bargain books are just as important as the "What to Expect" series, especially for first time parents.

Summary: A really interesting read...
Review: I fully expected to skim the contents of this book, but once I started it, I couldn't put it down! I have a 2 1/2 year old, and another baby on the way, so I was particularly interested in whether or not I should bother with a double stroller. This book helped to answer THAT question, and about a thousand others! (Basically, unless you want to invest over $400 in a nicer double stroller, don't waste your money...the cheaper ones on the market aren't really worth it and my older child rarely rides anyway.) There is terrific information on booster seats as well, with important information on the differences between the five major types. I wish I had read Baby Bargains before the birth of my first child. Besides bargains, there are lots of parenting tips and ideas, including great ideas for birthday parties. This book is a great gift idea for the parent of any child over the age of two...Highly recommend it!

Summary: Get this before you go shopping
Review: I have been hooked on Denise & Alan Fields' books since I read Bridal Bargains before my wedding five years ago. Their advice is always top-notch, and the books are fun and easy to read. I think this book needs a little work before it rises to the definitive "Bible" status that I give their Baby Bargains book, but nonetheless, it is the best book on toddler products on the market today. You WILL recoup the cost of this book from their money saving tips.

Summary: A great resource guide
Review: I have read both Baby Bargains and Toddler Bargains cover to cover - they contain a wealth of information for anyone who is expecting a baby or already has a young child. Many of the sources for purchasing various items I would never have known about without reading the book. It is especially useful to read their reviews before making a major purchase since their are so many brands and models of car seats, strollers, etc. on the market. It was helpful to have someone sort out which are the best bets since I didn't have the time to figure it out myself.

Summary: Very helpful
Review: I knew babies and children weren't cheap, but I never realized how expensive they were either.

I bought the Baby Bargains book after reading about it on a bulletin board. Like I said in that review, I don't know if I saved money, but at least i was able to make wiser choices. The same is true for this book. (I also became an Ebay addict but that is another story)

Like the Baby Bargains book, this book gathers alot of information, for example from the gov't (cpsc) and consumer reports, into one tome. It also refers you to other websites for more info if necessary.

This first edition is a worthy sequel to the Toddler years. There are some worthy changes - for example. photos of pottys, and carseats - that could be added to the Baby bargains book (of carseats as babies don't need pottys). however the research isn't complete. I found some products for even less by using google.com.

So why 4 stars...Like the Baby Bargains book, this book is my first resource. It is conveniently placed in my shopping bag and pulled out for easy reference. I've had many mothers crowd around me asking to look at it while i've been comparing products at Babies R Us and Target. Many have even bought a copy after sneaking a peek at mine.

So buy this book....you will be happy that you did !!!

Summary: Wish I'd had this the first time around!
Review: I received this as a gift from another mom and can't believe the help it has given me. I have a preschooler and a toddler and wish I'd had it the first time around. Actually, it's benefited both children right now as we needed to purchase a booster seat for our preschooler who was ready to move out of the toddler seat. Had I not read Toddler Bargains I wouldn't have known Graco was coming out with a booster car seat that was cheaper than the Britax Starriser and just as safe and handy. I'm glad I watched and waited! Thanks to the Fields for their down to earth and common sense help!

Summary: New 2nd edition is out now!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the Baby Bargains book and looked forward to the Toddler Bargains. I liked the information provided in Toddler Bargains but was somewhat disappointed with the format and lack of definite recommendations. There were several items that just listed places to find that particular kind of item but did not have a specific review. I felt a kind of information "overload" in some instances.

Don't get me wrong. Alan and Denise should keep up the work that they are doing. No other author(s) have made the efforts they have to truthfully educate prospective parents. I definitely would recommend the book but I do feel that it was somewhat rushed to press (I found several typos) and could be very much improved.
