Summary: Good overview but need to wade through the blame game
Review: Being the mother of an autistic son, this is one of many autism books and articles that I have read. The pages are filled with information, ideas and starting points to send you on your way. I do think it is worth a read, however the author's preaching is a bit hard to swallow at times. I know where she's coming from, so I suppose I should cut her a little slack. She often likes to make sweeping judgements and recommendations base on her personal opinions and experience. It's odd, because she tries to assert that she's taking a more scientific approach. There's also a lot of the blame game going on in this book. I suppose it's human nature, but it's a frame of mind that I try to avoid. As with many books and articles on the subject that are written by parent with autism, there is a personal agenda at work.

Summary: When a parent has a recovered child, you listen to what they
Review: I always say: God wants to be with all of us, it depends what we want, we have the freedom to chose. Lynn is living her life following God, no other reason made her do what she did.
God saved Ryon's life, through his mother and now, He is giving us help in saving our kids's lives.
- When I suspected that my son, 2 years old, has something that I do not understand exactly, I was praying, going to the book store, and the first book I had in my hand, it was Lynn's book.
- God saved, through this book, my son's life, he is 30 months old now, almost ready to talk, started to imitate a lot of things, understanding almost everything and he came from a 0 breakdown, by the age 2.
- The reason is that God put in my heart the answer: "Take this book and follow all the steps, and your son will be fine."
- I was following, as a mother, all the steps Lynn did, in the same way I will follow a prayer.
God bless this family forever !

Summary: Helpful Resources for Parents
Review: I am a pediatric nurse practitioner who treats children with autism. Lynn's book is a helpful resource guide that allows the reader to learn about different treatment options that are available for children with autism. Lynn weaves her personal account of trying to find help for her child with the resources that she found helpful and those that were not as helpful. I highly recommend this book to all of my patients' parents.

Summary: Must Read for Parents
Review: I am so grateful that another parent gave me this book when my child was first diagnosed. This is a must read for parents, teachers, therapists. This book gave me the hope and inspiration I needed to set up a home therapy program and enroll my child in a local school that uses ABA. This book is also a great "map" in helping you find out where to go and what to research.

Summary: THE BOOK TO OWN IF YOU HAVE AUTISM IN YOUR LIFE
Review: I bought this book after I had figured out the maze of all that was involved in getting the services that I needed for my children. I put myself through an incredulous amount of work to gather the information I needed, and spent many nights up by myself - - - digging to see all my options. After reading this, I feel completely cheated, as it was all available right here in this book.
"Facing Autism" could have saved me many months' worth of work, as Ms. Hamilton has done all the work in compiling huge amounts of information into her book.
I will not go into detail about this book. Suffice it to say that it is one of THE books that you MUST buy. When you want to find HOPE, read "Let Me Hear Your Voice" by Catherine Maurice. When you wants ANSWERS and GUIDANCE - - - - "Facing Autism" is the book to own, HANDS DOWN.
Thank you, Ms. Hamilton. I have proudly passed around my copy of this book - but always make sure that it gets returned to me.

Summary: Help and Hope!
Review: I got my hands on this book at a time when I felt helpless and hopeless about my young son's autism. This book is an incredible help in so many practical ways--from getting a diagnosis to help with funding for therapy to help for the family and many other issues. But beyond the practical help, this book offered me tremendous hope for my son's future. I am so grateful to Mrs. Hamilton for giving me the basic understanding and inspiration I needed to see my son propel forward in his abilities and giftings despite the challenges of autism!

Summary: If you even suspect autism read this book!
Review: I had a suspicion our son had autism long before it was confirmed by any Doctor. I bought this book, hoping for some clues and answers. It was fabulous! If you have a suspicion that your child might have a form of autism, get this book, that way when you do go to the Dr. you will be ahead of the game. There are so many great resources in the book, and for the newly diagnosed the chapter,What to Do First is an excellent place to start. Another nice feature of the book is being able to pick out specific chapters you want to read, you don't have to read it cover to cover. It has been such a blessing to me, I cried when reading of her early experiences with her son, thinking of how I could relate, and in some cases wondering how the outside workd can be so cruel. It has given me a wealth of information and hope.
