Summary: Do not waste your money
Review: Horrible...Horrible....Horrible.....The author lacks qualifications and the information provided can be found in many of the more objective "Baby Books" like "What to Expect in the First Year". Breastfeeding courses also provide better information on the mechanics of breastfeeding and are worth the time. This book is written with one point of view, lacks medical basis and is full of the same "breastfeeding" rhetoric. If you are new to motherhood or breastfeeding, you will quickly find out that there are a minority of women (like the author) who are passionate about breastfeeding and will try to make normal mothers with healthy babies feel guilty if they breastfeed for a short period of time and don't breastfeed till the child can speak. It's a shame there aren't enough sources on breastfeeding that are unbiased and objective.

Summary: Got me in the "groove"
Review: I purchased this book hoping to get a better idea of what breastfeeding is all about. When I started to read this book, I could not put it down. Being almost ashamed of the fact that I was breastfeeding, all of that went away after I read this book. I was supplimenting with formula at night thinking it was easier, but after reading this book, I threw out the formula and now have been exclusively breastfeeding my son for three months. My son is very healthy, and is growing more than I could ever imagine and all I give him is breastmilk!

Summary: WIsh I had this book earlier!
Review: As the mom of a 6 week old, and with breastfeeding problems, I wish I had heard of this book when I was pregnant. I have made all the mistakes and I am paying the price now. Unfortunatly, this book doesn't help me now that I am 6 weeks in, but if I had it earlier I could have avoided the mistakes I made and things would have been easier now.
Get this book when you are pregnant!!!

Summary: Great help to new moms who'd like to breastfeed
Review: I'm Adibah from Malaysia. Three years back (1999), when I was pregnant with my Twin sons, Amir Hasan and Amir Husin, my sister Anisah gave me this book as a gift. I treasure the book so much. Thanks for writing such a great and entertaining book.

I have just given birth to my second child, a cute daughter named Ain Husna, and I still refer to this book. I wish more new mommy read this book before saying that they ca't breastfeed their babies. This book is full of stories that can lift your spirit when you are down. Read it and you'll agree with me

Summary: Put Simply, Fabulous!
Review: If you have any question or doubt in your mind that breastfeeding is the right thing to do, this book WILL convience you it's the only thing to do. I just wish I could find this lady and hug her neck for conviencing me to do what was BEST for my baby. Every woman begins her pregnancy toying with the idea of breastfeeding. This book will guide you from the beginning of your pregnancy until you stop breastfeeding. She's so entertaining and to the point. Even months after my baby was born I still pick the book up for support and answers to questions I might have. BUY THE BOOK, you'll be sooo glad you did. Then, pass it on. If I can do it, anyone can!

Summary: Under no circumstances should you buy this book!!!
Review: Like many women I purchased this book hoping for some honest facts and how-to tips that would allow me to make my own decisions about whether or not to breast feed my child. Unfortunately, what I received was a 297 page rant designed to make non breast feeding mothers feel like criminals. At one point the "author" claims that formula (which she refers to as 'dairy waste product') is directly responsible for obesity, asthma, eczema, diabetes, ear infections, cancer, attention deficit disorder and high psychological bills. As I have a few postgraduate degrees of my own I was curious about some of her statistics (she claims, for example, that 40% of Americans have spoken with extraterrestrials.) However, in a book rife with statistics there are no footnotes or substantiation. As an English professor I would fail this author for .... As a new mother I simply shake my head in disgust. Her vehement and rabid hatred of men (whom she refers to in a complimentary mood as several evolutionary leaps beyond Cro-Magnon) is amusing at first but gets tired. At some point you begin to tune out a writer who claims that those who discourage you from breast feeding are those without breasts. What is less easy to ignore is her anecdotal evidence. At one point she described a mother of a seriously ill child who cries herself to sleep at night wishing only that she had breast fed, knowing that this would have prevented the painful illnesses and high doctor bills. New mothers are not interested in ..., they are more concerned with facts. Unfortunately this writer offers no substantiated facts. However, she does offer that "death is a possible consequence of formula feeding." Oftentimes she speaks under the cloak of a vague 'many experts.' These experts are rarely referred to. They are certainly not referred to when they claim that doctors who do not specifically stress breast milk are giving "advice that probably qualifies as malpractice." I could go on but why bother? Let's face it, plenty of women feel strongly about the benefits of breast feeding-- they don't need to buy this book. Neither does anyone looking for a disinterested opinion. Quite frankly this writer should be ashamed of herself.

Summary: Funny and easy to read!
Review: This was very light while very approachable, and filled with real-world experiences. Filled with tons of information, from a certified lactation consultant. I'm excited about putting it to use!

Summary: An Enjoyable and Informative Read!
Review: This is a great breastfeeding reference book. It's written with humor and empathy, and is filled with great advice. I read it when pregnant with my first child and it gave me confidence and reassurance about breastfeeding. I used it as a reference during the sometimes challenging days with a newborn/young infant, and even referred to it when nursing my second child, though I was an old pro by then! Passed it on to a first-time mom friend and she got a great amount of benefit as well.

I would recommend this as a shower gift, too, it's a great resource and would be a light-hearted moment during the party as well--it's fun to even thumb through quickly, and the title usually brings a laugh, too.

Summary: A WONDERFUL BOOK!!
Review: This book is fabulous. It is a little preachy in the beginning but is very informative, ENCOURAGING, and entertaining. I wish I had read it before I delivered too! Janet seemed to know EXACTLY how I was feeling and knew EXACTLY the questions I had. This book picked me up when I was discouraged and gave me the little boost I needed to get through the tough times. A MUST read for every woman planning to breastfeed (or even if you've already started)
