Review: Realistic, loving and beautifully written, Dr. Goldman gets at the essence of fatherhood. He's very funny and should have been a comedian!!! I have read many of these books. This is the best because it tells the truth. Enjoy!!

Summary: Charming, and practical look at upcoming fatherhood!
Review: This book was at a friends house and I started to read it although I was not about to become a new father! I found it charming, endearing and full of humor and reasonable practical advice for handling emotional changes, physical changes and a whole new world of fatherhood. I think its wonderful for women as well! The best feature of this book is its sweet sense of humor throughout -Practical and thoughtful - very interesting and reassuring: highly recomend!

Review: This book was great. As a new dad, I was completely overwhelmed. But as I lay in bed at night between my colicky baby's frequent awakenings, I would read Dr. Goldman's book. He has a great way of being truthful, sensitive and funny. I loved the wit, cartoons and advice. Very easy to read. This book is not censored and does speak frankly about some important issues not covered in other like books. Since so many books are written for women (although my wife loved this book and laughed outloud dozens of times) as a man, I appreciate that. Dr. Goldman taught me how to easily save money for my baby, how to engage my friends in my new life with my baby and how to love my wife and new family in all sorts of ways I did not even imagine were possible. He answered all my questions-even some I was fearful of asking my friends or my doctor. There are differences between men and women--in all sorts of ways--this is an indisputable fact. This book helps bring husband and wife together. Since having a baby will change the nature of your relationship with your wife or partner, Dr. Goldman points out how people can get into trouble if they aren't in-tune with each other. It is a "relationship-failure prevention" book too!! There are many dimensions to having a child-Dr. Goldman gets at all of them with humor and professionalism. It teaches a team approach to raising a baby and is comprehensive medically and psychologically. I highly recommend this book to men and women--if you buy one book on being a new dad, this is it!!! Thanks Dr. Goldman for such a real book!!

Summary: Excellent guide for first time dads -- great gift idea!
Review: This is a terrific book with practical advice with a warm, "real life" approach to fatherhood. My childbirth educator made it part of our required reading. Since it was written with helpful tidbits as well as humor, my husband really enjoyed reading it. This has become my favorite gift choice for new dads as well as baby shower gift.

Summary: Wonderful!!
Review: This is a wonderful book, for the holidays and beyond! My husband was "forced" to read this after being in a bit of denial about what having a new baby was going to be like. I tell you, after reading a chapter, he couldn't put it down. Of course I read it too, but then, I wanted to understand parenting from a father's perspective too! It answers questions, gives information and is funny! Dr. Goldman is not at all patronizing. The book is wonderfully honest and he gets the message through very clearly. He writes well so it is very smooth and makes for great through-and-through reading or as a refernce book. It is a great book for men but women would love it as well!!

Review: Well, I really think I needed this book. I was anxious to say the least but when the baby arrived, i had no idea what to expect or what to do. My wife's books did not apply to me. I had a lot of mixed feelings about the whole thing but could not tell anyone about it. Dr. Goldman's book was the only one that seemed to let me feel what I wanted or needed to feel. I wasn't filled with joy automatically. A lot of people have been attacked for having one feeling or another or not having certain feelings-especially in the delivery room. I am in love with my baby now but I'm glad that it's ok to let those feelings develop without the guilt. That's not to say that the book is full of doom and gloom--it's NOT--it was ME that was full of doom and gloom...at first. There were some things in the book that made it ok for me to have mixed thoughts for a while. The book was a breath of honest, fresh air!! What a relief. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Simply the best book on the market....
Review: What a delightful, funny book! Dr. Goldman tells the truth about the trials and tribulations of raising a child with a loving prose that is easy to read and enjoyable by both men and women. I actually learned about some of the things my husband was thinking about but felt he couldn't say-from this book. It made it easier for us to talk about it. The book is also a great instruction manual for new dads since it starts with the basics but presents them in a tone that anyone could identify with. It is beautifully written and serves as a reminder that having a baby is both serious and joyous! I applaud the honesty and depth and levity of "The Joy of Fatherhood" and advise all moms and dads to be take a look at it!!!
