Summary: better editing needed
Review: As a person who loves to read true crime stories, I was disapointed by the poor writing. The book was very confusing due to many inconsistancies (such as saying she was a mother of 6 in one part, and a mother of 5 in another), misuse of terms (for example interchanging the titles stepbrother and halfbrother, two very different things), and using improper words (referring to the girl as being "mortally wounded" when in fact, she survived the injury). It is too bad that this tragedy was not given the care and attention in writing that it deserved.

Review: Before I bought this book I had heard the story on Montel Williams Show, but I wanted to get full detail. Some things Theresa Knorr did to her oldest daughter was unimanigable. Gross. Convulsing. Overall this was a great book. One question why didn't it say if Theresa wen't to jail?

Summary: eh
Review: I found that after seeing an A&E apecial on this that there were some inaccuracies in the book. It was also very easy to put down even though the story was completely mind blowing. Could have been written a lot better.

Summary: Doesn't Do the Story Justice
Review: I found this to be a poorly written and superficial account. "Mother's Day" by Dennis McDougal is much, much better, and provides a lot more background.

Summary: Captivated
Review: I have read this book not to long ago, and I was horrified to learn that a mother could perform such brutality on her own flesh and blood. I am a mother myself and I can't even begin to understand the evil that lied within her. I think that Terry was such a brave soul to endure such a terrible childhood. She not only survived this but she went on the have a life of her own and she never forgot her sisters. I hope that Theresa and her sons are in prison for the rest of their lives. They can't even begin to pay for their crimes.

Summary: Interesting
Review: I just finished reading this book and I, too, was very disappointed with the ending. OK, so the author didn't want to wait until after the trial to finish the book. How about an update or afterward? It's not unheard of. Ann Rule had an afterward with 2 updates for The Stranger Beside Me, each time believing it was the last chapter in the Ted Bundy story, until if finally was with Bundy's execution.

Back to this story. It was terribly written. This book was just the facts and nothing but the facts. Yes the story is horrifying, but I feel there was so much left unsaid, and the story could have been told so much better.

All in all I'd have to say, don't waste your money on this one.

Summary: Absolutely chilling true-crime-a 'must read'
Review: I just read the book in about 4 hours. I could not put it down! I took it everywhere with me. However, since the book was written in 1995, there were no updates since the trial was in process. Does ANYONE have any updates? I am very curious as to what happened in the trial, and more curious about Terry...

Summary: Whatever Mother Says...
Review: I read a lot of true crime, and have an appreciation for what authors of true crime must have to wade through in order to get the facts, as well as the time it must take them to do so. Ann Rule "rules" when it comes to not only giving the reader the most thorough details of a case, but also in the organizing and telling of it. The success of her writing stems not only from her accuracy, but from her ability to tell the tale as though it's the most gruesome fiction, conceived by someone's warped (but very vivid and talented)imagination. Mr. Clarkson differs tremendously. Were I not intrigued by Mrs. Knorr, I would have thrown the book aside after his poorly written, rather sophomoric introduction, a style that was to haunt me throughout. I found it extremely difficult not to grind my teeth through his frustratingly tedious, preachy and rather sketchy and disjointed telling of the tale of horror in the Knorr household. In the end, he tries to tie it all up (Chapter 24)with a Psych 101 course on how serial killers are created, endlessly quoting Drs. Norris and Wood. Granted, the facts of this case must have been tremendously difficult to obtain and sort out, as each of the living children had reasons to distort, but that being so, the book should have been left unwritten. If you like true crime, avoid this one at all (or any) costs!
