Summary: Great book!
Review: I bought this book upon a recommendation from a friend who owned it. I thought the book was very helpful and we had tremendous success. I read the book a few months before we started to try to get pregnant and we got pregnant the first month we started trying. The book was easy to understand and had good tips in it. I have since recommended this book to several of my friends, all of whom have concieved within 4 months (most within 2 months) of trying.

Summary: It worked for us !
Review: I can't say a bad thing about this book ! My husband and I started trying for a baby but nothing was working . The month after I read this book we concieved our son who is now 3 months old ! Thank you so much Dr. Williams for righting this book! I saw that some people did not care for this book , it is writen to help those who do not have fertility problems . I would suggest "Taking charge of your fertility " if you need a more info.

Summary: Scheduling Your Pregnancy
Review: I found a recent review that I thought was excellent by Vicky Collins of www.babylounge.com. It reads,

"If you're like most women, once you decide you want to be pregnant, you want it to happen immediately. If you fall into this category, then this book is for you. The Fastest Way to Get Pregnant Naturally is an essential book for every woman who yearns to earn the title of "mommy."

"This wonderful book is written by OB/GYN and fertility specialist, Dr. Christopher Williams. The first few chapters cover the preconception steps you should take to ensure maximum fertility, and a healthy baby. These chapters include everything from cutting out the obvious, like smoking, alcohol and caffeine, to taking a prenatal vitamin with folic acid, stopping birth control, getting the proper nutrition, and getting to a healthy weight (not too thin or too heavy).

"After you read about what you need to do before trying to conceive, you get to the good stuff...predicting ovulation. Unlike the more traditional ways of detecting ovulation, such as basal body temperature and cervical mucus, this book encourages the use of the ovulation kits that are so readily available in your local drug store (the author explains why using the ovulation kits is an easier and a more reliable methods for detecting ovulation). In addition, the book goes into more detail on how to properly use the kits than I found in the pamphlet included in the kit itself.

"Before reading this book I didn't think ovulation kits (they run about $15-30 per month) were worth the cost. However, when I thought about the fact that I could probably conceive faster using the kits, $15 a month didn't seem like too much!

"An entire chapter is dedicated to what to do in the bedroom to maximize fertility. The usual tips such as optimal positions and frequency are mentioned. In addition, you might be surprised to learn that lubricants like K-Y jelly may kill sperm, and that electric blankets may decrease fertility and increase the rate of miscarriage.

"Other important chapters are dedicated to topics like the man's role in getting pregnant quickly (his nutritional, social, medications, and age do matter), and the age old question of whether you can choose the sex of your baby.

"This comprehensive book is a wonderful way to get a leg up on everything you need to do in order to ensure maximum fertility and be well on your way to the most joyful experience of your life...parenthood."

Summary: Useful but dry
Review: I found the book too wordy. Just reading the summary sections at the end of each chapter can give you all the necessary info you are looking for. Although it gave very little new information to us it did confirm some of our beliefs. The jist of what we got out of the book is to purchase an ovulation kit and not drinking.

Summary: Great place to start!
Review: I found this book a very helpful introduction to the world of pre-pregnancy. We have not yet started "trying". I'm just over 30 and wanted a resource to find out as much as I could about what I should be doing now, in the month or so before stopping birth control, to be an informed and healthy pregnant-person-to-be! This book is a perfect place to start. Careful though - it's easy to get discouraged when reading about all the possible reasons you WON'T get pregnant, especially if you're over 30 and sensitive to that fact.

Summary: Excellent!! Effective too
Review: I found this book to be very helpful. There's a lot of good practical advice. I used this book along with Taking Charge of your Fertility and How to Choose the Sex of your Baby (along with lots of prayer) to give birth to a son a year later.

Summary: Great beginning book
Review: I found this book to be very informative and after reading it, I knew what questions to ask my ob/gyn...now we have been referred to an RE and I know what questions to ask him! Our nutrition has become very important to us and have added/subtracted things that he suggested!

Summary: Simple, common sense advice and easy to read.
Review: I loved the "every day" tone of the author's writing style and the fact that he had probably read all the books I had read concerning fertility and conception and so, could speak to current issues and theories with authority while offering a level-headed dose of reality.

He provided common sense advice that was not extreme or unattainable. I felt entirely reassured that at age 39, I have a perfectly reasonable chance of becoming pregnant and having a healthy baby.

Summary: It worked for me!
Review: I searched for a book that addressed preconception and preparation for your body to be pregnant. Being over 30, I worried that I was going to have trouble, so I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could to be physically ready. By the time I finished this book, (2 months of intermittant reading) I was pregnant! This is a great book with good suggestions and tips about things you may not think of (like for the father to also take vitamins while trying). Loved it!
