Summary: The recipe to a enriching parenting /childhood experience
Review: This book is truly a way for both children and parents to experience their lives in a richer, deeper, fuller way. The author tells us things we already know, but need reminding about. In this busy world we need to be reminded to enjoy what we already have. I am thankful to Katrina Kenison for helping to reground us.

Summary: Enjoyable and Inspiring
Review: This book puts into words all of the thoughts I have had over the years. We all know how to give our children the gift of a simple childhood. We just have so many competing pressures in the world that sometimes it is difficult to take a step back from all of the confusion. But this is something that many more mothers are trying to do. We are quietly taking back our families from the materialism, commercialism and competition that seem to be invading our lives. Reflections For Mothers in a Hurry can clarify these goals and remind us of the real reasons we have chosen motherhood. My grandmother has always told me to "enjoy the children". This book shows us the way to do just that. This book is very affirming and spiritually uplifting. Easy to read, the chapters are really independent reflections, each treating a different subject. There is no need to read it non-stop, though it is hard to put down. I bought two more copies, one for a new mom, and one for my friends. We are going to pass it around for inspiration and to share something we mothers all have in our hearts.

Summary: I would put a copy under everyone's chair
Review: This book spoke so strongly to me that I told all my friends I would put a copy under all of their chairs if I was a tv talk show host! As a mother and preschool teacher, each page has a message I can use to change my life, and therefore, change the lives of the children I love every day. Katrina Kenison crawled into my mind and painted my thoughts with beautifully descriptive, yet simple prose.

Summary: Read, Relax and Reflect
Review: This book was a part of my day for the past few months. I took the time to read a small portion of it as my daily reflection/inspiration moment every morning. It helped to center and balance me for the best start, always giving me something profound to think about and vitally important to strive for each day. I also found it relaxing, making me more open to the surprises that awaited me as the day unfolded.

The author's musings and advice are really quite simple: Make your family and children the focus of every day! Find the extraordinary in the ordinary happenings of life. Enjoy and hold dear the magical moments shared with your child as they grow into a deeper awareness of the world around them. Simple, and yet profound, especially in the fast-paced society in which we live.

Her essay on "Peace," I found to be most relevant. I read it not long after 9/11, when I was struggling with what had happened and feeling helpless to change the atmosphere of fear and suspicion that engulfed our entire country at that time. Again, the author's words went right to the point and made me realize there IS something I can do and, as a matter-of-fact, is my responsibility! In a few words, this quote encapsulates the essence of the essay: "In stillness, we find our peace. Knowing peace at home, we bring peace into the world." The dreadful, terrifying feeling I had carried with me for weeks melted away and I was better able to talk with my 12-year old daughter about her reaction to all the turmoil and her personal fears. Together we were able to come up with a plan to help make our world a more peaceful, loving place by starting in our own community.

Providing "balance" is the best way I can describe what this book offers. I highly recommend it to any parent, although it most specifically speaks to mothers. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: A must-read for every mom!!
Review: This book was exactly what I was looking for! As a mother of 4 children under the age of 8, I contantly feel the crunch of today's fast-paced world. This book was a welcome addition to my library. I loved it so much, that I'm planning on getting copies for all of my friends for Christmas! Ms. Kenison has a wonderful insight of what's really important in raising children today. No other book I've read has had such an impact on me and how I now try to approach being a good parent.

Summary: A must read for all new and existing mothers!
Review: This book was given to me as a gift. I put it aside for a few months before I began reading it. Little did I know the bountiful wisdom hidden within the pages. It has really shown me how to really stop and appreciate my child and family. I have been leading such a stressful life and ignoring the small stuff that nutures our souls and strengthens us as individuals and bounds us as a family. This book has really shown me how to slow down, turn off the tv and celebrate the happiness and joy that can come from sharing with each other. I am a new mom and plan to give this book to all the new moms and exisiting moms I know. Please read this book! There are many great take-aways.

Summary: Make time to read this book!
Review: This book was given to me by my mom for Mother's Day. It was a wonderful present. It has made me slow down my life and not be in such a hurry to do it all! I met the author at her book signing and although I only spoke with her a few minutes, just meeting her made the book more real for me! This book must be read by all of us mothers out there who feel we must do it all and have it all! It made me appreciate the world around me and has given me so many hints about how to talk with my two little boys and show them what's out there in this big world...
