Summary: At Last!
Review: This system really works. Cravings are gone for all that unhealthy stuff. We (spouse and I) don't feel deprived, have more energy and we're just feeling better in all ways. Watched my colleagues today feasting on pie ala mode while I had a pot of tea and wasn't in the least bit tempted - unheard of until now!

Summary: I Wish It Worked!
Review: I've been on the eating plan for 6 weeks now and the good news is, the cravings are gone! It's also one of the easiest "diets" I've tried. But I haven't lost a pound! I have around 30lbs to lose, and had some success with the Suzanne Somers diet. So far on the Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Plan, I've actually GAINED around 2lbs :-(

I'm not giving up yet... the lack of cravings is unbelievable! But a diet that causes weight gain? Yikes...

Summary: Very disappointing
Review: From reading the excerpts, this book seemed written "just for me". What I found instead was sloppy reassurances about how nothing was my fault and how easy it would be if I follow the plan. It was simply too patronizing for my tastes.

Summary: CA Lifespan Program
Review: I've been on the Heller's plan for 3 years, since 3/17/97. I've lost 35 pounds and maintained that loss effortlessly for 2+ years. It is freedom from that 'thin last year, fat this year' rollercoaster! The weight loss plans from my youth were no longer effective. And never were sustainable! Once you've experienced the freedom from cravings and the control over food, how could you ever go back to that carb overdosed life?

Summary: This made the most sense, now I understand
Review: There are many things we don't understand. They are just too overhwelming to even want to understand. But there is a great sense of peace when we finally learn and understand why we are the way we are. I thought I was the only person in the world who could eat a big breakfast then be ravenous for lunch. Then there were days I would eat nothing for breakfast and feel not particularly hungry by lunch time. It's not the first time I've ever heard it. It's just the first time I've understood it, and it makes the most sense of anything I've ever heard. It's an addiction as strong as heroin I am told. Only it's carbohydrates. I am a firm believer. When I did give in to a little craving I turned into this beast who couldn't control myself. The only thing that made me stop was the feeling that I would throw up if I ate another bite. Yet, I could go long spans without food. It was as though my body had separate rules from my head. Finally, finally, I understand why and what I can do about it. THANKYOU!

Summary: This is the BEST eating program EVER!
Review: I've been heavy ALL my life...especially after having my first child. It seemed like I was always hungry - God forbid someone brought in donuts to the office - I could have eaten the whole box! And I had just had breakfast only an hour earlier! Now I don't even feel the need to eat breakfast (just coffee) and I'm not even starving by lunch, just a little hungry. I have a decent lunch (no carbs) and I don't get those 3:00pm hunger pangs like I used to. I can wait until 5:30-6:00pm to eat supper (which is pretty much whatever I want) and watch TV WITHOUT the urge to pick. The bottom line...I've lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks (I haven't even started exercising yet) and I'm still losing. This is the BEST diet I've ever been on and it's something I can and will do for life!

Summary: Extremely Helpful
Review: I have found this to be extremely helpful. Over the last few months, I have been able to lose over 30lbs. and very little cravings at all. I approached this with some skepticism, but it has surpassed my expectations. I don't know if it works for everyone, but to date, it has certainly worked for me. Following this program has certainly made a big difference.

Summary: Like finding a lost treasure.
Review: I've tried everything, fasting ,grapefruit, meat, drinks, crashing, the (fruit, veg.meat & tomato)diet. cabbage soup. If it's out there I just might have tried it. After I had my second child, the weight just kept on going on. 5'2" and 280 just wasn't fun. I couldn't do the things with my kids that I wanted to. Now I'm 58 and have grand kids. My daughter and son-in-law found out about Dr.Richard & Dr. Rachael Heller Carb. Addicts book's and started losing weight. So I decided to try it and ordered the CARDOHYDRATE ADDICT's lIFESPAN program. The wonderful thing about it is ,you arn't deprived at all,the craving is gone ( I no longer go to the frige and grab anything just to try to stop the hunger),Down 17 lb in about a month and looking forward to droping a lot more. GREAT book and good price.

Summary: This will work for me
Review: I've tried the Atkins diet and I've tried The Zone... and I've failed. I have PCOS and am insulin resistant and this is working well for me. I'm in my first week on the plan and I've lost 8 lbs. Though I know that every week isn't going to fly even half this fast... it's relatively easy. The only thing missing from this book are some recipes for those picky eaters like myself. I wish there were more veggie options for the rewards meal - how many nights can I really eat salad and green beans? Uff. But I think I'll just get used to it. Most of my cravings are gone.
