Rating: Summary: An Answered Prayer! Review: This book is well written, easy to understand. The eating plan has been well researched and it works! I have been following the plan after reading this book 5 months ago. I have lost 40 lbs in that 5 months and I feel wonderful. My health is improving daily. My cholesterol levels have gone down, my blood pressure has stabilized and I have the energy to live my life again.
Rating: Summary: the information in this book is changing my whole life` Review: For some of us, excess weight has always been a problem. I've always thought I was just a weak person and I felt ashamed of myself. Now I know, it's biological and it can very much be controlled. This way of eating and way of life is working for me when no other program has. It's strong and yet flexible enough to make me want to stick to it.

Rating: Summary: It's safe and it WORKS! Review: The Drs. write in a compassionate and down-to-earth manner. This book explains why I only GAINED weight with every diet I was ever given but "registered dieticians", no matter how strictly I followed them. Those one-size-fits-all, food pyramid-based diets do not fix the underlying insulin imbalance that causes the overweight. I've followed this way of eating since December 1994. It is so safe that after reading the book, my PHYSICIAN APPROVED me to stay on it while I was pregnant! Prior to this eating plan, I was EXTREMELY hypoglycemic. Rating: Summary: this book has worked magic for me - wonderful Review: This book is the only way of eating that has ever helped me to lose weight. I have been doing it for several months and have lost 1 1/2 pounds a week. Better than that, I feel great. It's sorted out lots of other minor problems of lethargy and depression that I thought I just had to learn to live with. I have real, day-long energy for the first time since puberty! Also, I am developing better muscle tone, so I'm sure I'm losing fat, not muscle. It might not work for everyone, but if you take the test and you test as a carbohydrate addict, then it will work for you. I know I will be eating like this for the rest of my life; I feel as if the Hellers have given me my life back.
Rating: Summary: this book is AWESOME - the food plan really works!!!!! Review: I have been a compulsive overeater all of my life. I tried diets and always gained twenty pounds right afterwards. I tried Overeater's Anonymous. I lost some weight doing the "no-sugar/no white flour" thing, but then gained it back twice as much. I just couldn't stand the deprivation and "on-the-edge" feeling when I didn't eat carbs. This plan, though, is AWESOME!!!! I no longer have cravings all day long for high carbs. I feel like a more normal person! I have much more energy during the day. I am losing around a pound per week, steadily. And, most importantly, I DON'T FEEL DEPRIVED!!! This is really important because I know I can STICK with this diet!!! I don't have that edgy feeling because I DO eat high carbs once a day during a one-hour period of time which totally eliminates that "gotta have it" feeling! It is a diet that I feel BETTER on than off, so on the few occasions where I "fell off the wagon," it was much easier to get back on plan, unlike other diets I've been on. IN FACT, I have been EAGER to get back on plan, just because I FEEL BETTER when I am on it!!! If you have a problem with carbohydrate addiction, BUY THIS BOOK!!!! It will change your life - it has mine!!!! Every day I get up and thank God (and the Hellers!) that I found this plan that corrected my overeating behavior! I have been on it for over a year and a half and it just keeps getting better and better!!!! I tell everyone I know who might have a problem with carb addiction about this book and have loaned out several copies. This book outlines a real-life MIRACLE!!! Really try it. Notice that first time that you can pass up the sweet rolls or the chips without any longing. See how much better you feel. I know this way of eating goes against everything you have been told for many years about dieting and weight loss, but has the "standard" weight loss plans worked for you? Have you kept off the weight you did manage to lose? No? Well, try this.
