Rating: Summary: THE LCP SOLUTION: The Remarkable Treatment for Apraxia!!! Review: This book is written in such a way that anyone, parents or professionals, will understand the importance of supplementation with essential fatty acids. It brings together years of research into one easy reading book, with case histories etc. I got so much out of it, and to this date it is one of the best books out there I have read that explains the relationship between apraxia, dyspraxia, ADHD, dyslexia, and all learning disorders. Our son has apraxia and had very few words. We ran this book, and the question of "should we give these to him?..." past our pediatrician, and he didn't know much about it, but he said the product is harmless, and if it worked, great! We then tried the supplements on our apraxic child, and they really worked, to where EVERYONE including his therapists and teachers noticed. It is amazing how they do work, and this book explains why! I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: The place to start if your child is having problems Review: This book provides and excellent integration and summary of the research pointing to the critical role of long-chain polyunsaturated (LCP) fatty acids (EPA, DHA, AA) in the development and function of the brain. Pulling together basic science, case studies, and clinical trials from a variety of fields, the authors take the reader on a journey of discovery that both educates and intrigues. The authors not only make a compelling case for trying LCP supplements as a first line treatment for ADHD and other neurologically based disorders, they also provide a wealth of resources, product reviews, and protocols of immediate practical value. Millions of parents are desperately seeking ways to help children who are struggling socially, emotionally or academically, without resorting to drugs. I strongly recommend that they start their search for safe, natural, and research-based solutions by reading this book. Martha S. Rating: Summary: A great supplement to traditional therapy! Review: While the fish oil supplements suggested in this book aren't a "magic bullet" cure to learning disorders, they are a terrific nutritional way to assist learning delayed children. My daughter has symptoms of dyspraxia and sensory integration dysfunction. The supplements have really given her an edge-- she concentrates better, has more coherent speech, is measurably calmer and less irritable, and has a considerably longer attention span. It may not work for everybody, but it's definitely helping my child. As may be commonly known, a sizeable part of the problem with learning delayed children is that they just can't sit still or concentrate without frustration long enough to learn. The fish oil supplements, while tricky to disguise in common foods, have helped her overcome a lot of that problem. By the way, the FDA gave out that slap on the wrist because the company was advertising its product as being helpful for attention deficit disorder. Since the FDA had no scientific evidence of its own to back up that claim, they made said company remove the claim from the label. Consequently, the company decided also to rename the product so as to avoid the stigma associated with the case. No harm was found in the product itself-- it's just a nutritional supplement.
