Rating: Summary: WHERE was this book 3 years ago?!!!!!! Review: INFERTILITY SUCKS is right! My dh & I wasted so much time and money trying to have our first child. My gyno said she was an inferitlity specialist - HA! Misinformation at every turn. Run around from insurance company, which we had to argue with to even get meds covered. Marriage nearly went in the tank before we took a break, got some counseling and then did some research - we would've saved tons of $$ and 2+ years if we had this book! I found the section for men particularly well written. A friend told me to get this book since we are trying for #2. A big THANK YOU TO the Author! READ THIS BOOK FIRST IF NEED HELP TO GET PREGNANT!

Rating: Summary: Everything I THOUGHT I knew about Infertility tx but DIDN'T. Review: The Infertility Survival Handbook has really been a great companion for me in my infertility struggles.
This book started out as a purchase I made because it looked interesting and easier to understand from someone who's been there. Little did I know how much this book would become a permanent guide for me during my IVF and multiple miscarriages.
I recently received a diagnosis that was similiar to Ms. Falkers and as such, her book has become even more important to me.
I recommend this book for all people going through the ups and downs of Infertility. She has not only lived with the agony of infertility treatment struggles and triumphs, but she is a master at advising and consoling us through her book while we go down the infertility journey.
Ms. Falker explains alot of scientific jargon in very easy to understand terms. She's frank with her feelings and I appreciated her candor. She, through her book, has taught me a lot.
Buy this book and you will understand how important it will become to you.
p.s. Did I mention I read the whole book - cover to cover in 1 night? Of course, I fast read it, but it was an interesting and riveting book that I couldn't put down.
p.s.s. If you are reading my review, then you should read her book. She'll be more helpful to you than I have been. I promise.
Good luck to you in your journey and I hope my review has helped you with your decision.
Sincerely,
Christine Scheeler
Rating: Summary: Gets to the Heart of Infertility & Treatment Options! Review: The journey through infertility ain't for Sissies, but how could anyone know that if they haven't been through it?! Elizabeth Swire Falker's INFERTILITY SURVIVAL HANDBOOK should be REQUIRED READING for every single person who doesn't conceive within a few months of trying to get pregnant. The book is extremely well written -- the author has poured a wealth of information into this Reference Manual; Including: how to keep your marriage intact, how to find the best medical assistance, ammo to use for insurance purposes, other options to achieve the goal of becoming parents, and how to hang on to your sanity. A MUST READ!
Rating: Summary: FINALLY -- a book for and about us as patients!!!! Review: There are so many materials out on the market that talk about the medical interventions that are available for those that suffer with infertility. But there is no book out there that talks about it from a patient's perspective. The author has "been there and done that" and uses this book to talk to fellow patients. Her style is very direct and upfront, which is a breath of fresh air compared to many of the other books out there. She also helps you sort out the myriads of decisions that want-to-be-parents have to face as they walk through the infertility maze. This is a "must read" for anyone suffering infertility - it's so comforting to know that you are not alone!
Rating: Summary: A must read for anyone dealing with infertility Review: This book helped me more than words could ever express. Before reading this book I was still in denial about my inferility. Reading this book helped me accept it and learn that I am not alone. I had done lots of reasearch on the net, but most of it was written by doctors and didn't really help me to deal with the emotional side of infertility. Because Ms. Swire Falker shares her personal journey it helped me to deal with a lot of the feelings I had as well as educating me. After reading this book I felt empowered to take charge of my own battle. I have since opened it many times to look up things that I needed more information on.
This book is a must have for anyone dealing with infertility or anyone who knows someone who is.
Rating: Summary: A must have for anyone going thru the infertility process. Review: This book is real. Blunt. To the point. It is all the information that you need and given to you in real world terms. The author doesn't hold anything back and that is what a person on the infertility rollercoaster needs. If you buy this book, you won't need to buy any others on this subject. My only disappointment is that this book wasn't available years ago when I started my infertility ride.
Rating: Summary: Survival is the right word! Review: This book was a tremendous help while going through IVF. I had already tried 3 IUI's and was not sure I could handle IVF. It felt as if someone was holding my hand throughout the whole process with this book. Since I knew no one who had gone through IVF, I had no one to give me guidance.
It was also much more private than connecting with a cycle buddy online (I could not bring myself to do that in case only one of us was successful, it would have broken my heart).
My husband and I read and re-read the injections section every night and it really helped to put us at ease. The info they send you home with to prep for the injections was a bit dry, but this book gave us the added boost to get through them. Her humour and facts were just what we needed to get through the process. Most importantly, it helped us to get through IVF accurately, which we think was incredibly beneficial in our success.
