Rating: Summary: Death By Child Abuse and Noone Heard Review: I was twelve years old when I first read this book. I am now almost fifteen. I have looked for it for 3years. I cried so hard. I couldn't even go to sleep at night beacause of this book . This is absolutly the best book in the intire world. I would recomind it to anybody. I love it.
Rating: Summary: One Touching book. Review: My name is Lauren, and I live in Florida. I am in a class called Child Development at my high school and we were made to read this book as a class. It hit me with how lucky I am and how my parents could treat me like that, but don't. I don't think anyone will ever be able to really realize what Ursula had to go through. This book gives many great details of the torture she went through but we won't ever know how she really felt. What makes the story even worse is that the mother did nothing to prevent her boyfriend, Don, from hurting her daughter. This book has impacted my life tremendously and I hope it has yours also. For all those ones who find out a child or friend has been abused, go and report it-you may spare their lives instead of being killed from the pain and torture of being abused. This is a wonderful, powerful, touching book that should be in every home across the nation, and all the parts of the world.
Rating: Summary: I thank God I survived it Review: Reading the book about Ursula made me realize that I survived.I went through it for 18 years. I was yanked from the bed in the middle of the night put on my knees while a belt or a clothes hanger was used across my back. I had electric cords used on me and a hammer on my legs one time for not getting all the comet out of the sink on night. Because I couldnt remember my combination lock number my fingers were hit with an object. I was hit in the stomach while I doubled over in pain. I remember praying every night that God would help me be good. I was always so afraid for them to come home from work as I may not have had the house cleaned enough. I was stabbed by scissors for not sewing good, stabbed by a fork for not pouring my sister a cup of milk. I remember being kicked by boots, fingers stepped on and bent so no one would know by the bruises what was happening. I even had to live with the threat they would leave the car running and the exhaust would leak in the house and I could die. I had a gun held on me. I survived. I am a single mom with six daughters (4 who are adults) - Thank God I did survive and did not wind up like Ursula. She helped me realize how lucky I was. Dee OConnor
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book Review: This book is absolutly wounderful! Anyone interested in this subject must read it. And anyone that has a heart will be touch by this book. This little girl is abuse by her mothers boyfriend. Having to stand outside with out water all day in the sun in a specific spot. From Eating soap, her own wastes, and the end of this book will leave you with a feeling you probly have never felt befor. it is outstanding. My friend brought this book from England when she moved here. And then after looking for two years every where I finally found it here. The best part about Amazon.com for me is I can pay with cash. I highly recomend this book.
Rating: Summary: I read this book and it was the first to catch my attention. Review: This book wass incredible I've never read a book this thrilling in all my life. I know Ursula must have really lived a tragedy because her as a child didn't get to live as a child. She lived as a prisoner! This book has really caught my attention and at this point in my life I'm going to do my Senior project on Child Abuse. This book has touched my heart since i was 12 years old and I still remember the title and the name of the little girl!
Rating: Summary: Powerful Review: This is a must read book. What does it take before we as a society see what is happening to our children and do something about it. Why do we have to read after the fact books like DEATH FROM CHILD ABUSE, or A CHILD CALLED IT or NIGHTMARES ECHO before we as a nation come together for these children. I lived the life of abuse, no not to the degree of this...Thank Goodness, but no one heard my cries either...no one paid any attention. We have got to pay attention!!
Rating: Summary: If you have a heart, This Book will find it Review: When I was in the fifth grade, the perpetrator of this henious crime came up for parole. This really hit home since not only did I live in the same state as this man (if you would call him that) , but I also lived in the same city. At my elementary school one girl found out and began passing around the book as well as a petition to keep him in prision. Because of this I not only learned one of the most horrifying, eye-opening stories of my life but McDougall was denied parole- which kept our community safe. Also- an update not in the book, in 1996 after a radio broadcaste concerning Ursula's torture, the monster who tortured her was murdered by a fellow inmate. I would recommend this book to anyone. I am currently working on a school project for my newspaper concerning the story. Read this and I promise it will touch you.
