Rating: Summary: Review Review: An absolute "must have" for expectant parents of multiples! As a mother expecting twins, I was unable to put the book down and laughed hysterically throughout the process. The book is definitely written from the perspective of a mother of twins who has been down in the trenches herself and eloquently portrays an honesty about what it's really like to have multiples. The book made me want to meet the author...I feel as if we've been girlfriends forever!
Rating: Summary: Hilariously "realistic" Review: I couldn't disagree more with the negative reviews. I have eleven month old boy/girl twins and don't consider myself an expert but do consider myself a first year veteran. I experienced a "real" first year as described in this book. I read this book before having my twins thinking to myself that this author was either crazy or lazy. After having my twins, I read each chapter of the book that was relevant at the time. There wasn't a time that I didn't laugh out loud at what she had written. I was finding out how "right" she was. Later, when my twins were five months old, I got a chance to hear the author speak at a seminar where I publicly apologized to her for thinking that of her because I had realized she was neither crazy nor lazy. She is a mother of twins who wanted to share some of her experiences so that those mothers like myself could benefit from her knowledge. It really helped me to read and re-read this book throughout the first year to remind me that I wasn't the only one going through all those trying times. I consider myself extremely blessed to have twins although it is not without challenge. Which is exactly what the author was trying to make light of with her humorous style of writing. I strongly recommend this book to parents of twins who need not only a guide to help through the first year but a good laugh as well.
Rating: Summary: Very useful, very practical book Review: I found this book to be full of practical tips. Many of the twin books only talk about issues once the children get to school or romanticize the twin relationship. This book offers very practical advice on how to cope and manage during the first year. This book offered advice on double feeding and other time-saving tips which as a working mother, I found to be very useful. I think the writing style is very straightforward. Having twins, especially if you have other children, is not an easy task, but this book provides useful information to make it very doable. I also really liked the chapter for dads and my husband found it helpful, too.
Rating: Summary: A great book for parents of twins! Review: I just finished this book. It's the most practical guide to the first year with twins that I've found (and the fact that it didn't take 350 pages to explain how to get through just the first year was a big help!). I'm expecting twins in November and I'm certain it will be no walk in the park, but this book is lighthearted while providing a great roadmap. I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I just received this book today in the mail and started reading it and had a hard time putting it down. Would have loved to have read it before I had my twin boys. It would have prepared me better for the whole post delivery/NICU experience without scaring the daylights out of me. I looked at other "twin", "multiple" books but never found one that I really liked and then gave up looking. This is a very humorous/easy read. Would recommend it to not only those who are expecting or recently delivered twins but any first time parents as well as those that just "wonder how you do it"?
Rating: Summary: So Realistic! Review: I just want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed your book! It was both informative and funny! I found myself going back to reread parts of the book as my twin girls grew!
Rating: Summary: Exaggerated Review: I was disappointed by this book. Even though there were a lot of things that I, mom to newborn twin girls, did recognize, most of it however I did not. The book makes it all see much worse than it is in reality - or do I just have such easy babies? I don't think so. Also, I totally disagree with the statements about breastfeeding. The writer claims that it's nearly impossible to breastfeed twins, and I disagree. It's definately not more work than feeding them bottles! And there are no bottles to be washed afterwards.
Rating: Summary: Not really a twins book Review: I was looking for a funny tongue and cheek read about twins that would also provide some good information on having and raising them. However, I was disappointed in the amount of twin specific information in this book. In addition to this, instead of providing a lighthearted perspective for my wife it caused her to get stressful about the prospect of having twins. The book may advise for one to have a sense of humor about having twins, but it certainly didn't seem to provide one.
I wouldn't recommend this book as a twins book, nor would I recommend it if you are trying to give your wife a coping read. The authors of this book may consider themselves "REAL Experts," but I REALLY wish I hadn't bought this book.
Rating: Summary: Read through and sold it on Amazon Review: I wholeheartedly agree with Pop2Be and wish I could contact him for further discussion because he couldn't have written a better review. It's exactly what I was thinking. I am a mom of twin eight month old girls and can't remember anything from this book that I found relevant or useful. Some twin books that I have flipped through contain such scary and exhausting stories that almost makes having twins sound so burdensome. Maybe it's because I'm only eight months into this - I have no horror stories. Sure the first three months were tiring, but you get through it. I love everything about this joyful experience. I am looking forward to everything my girls have to offer, even though it may be tough sometimes. Don't get me wrong...I appreciate mothers of twins and this author's attempt, but I just don't feel it was worth the time or money. That's why I chose to sell it. Pop2Be - let's discuss.
Rating: Summary: A disappointing read Review: This book is self-published and it's very obvious by the poor formatting of the book and the "information" contained within.
As a mother of twin boys pregnant with my second set of twins I had hoped for a better book to "refresh my memory" of life with twins and suggest to other new mothers of twins...This book sadly is not one I can suggest.
The useful information in this book geared specifically towards twins/multiples fills about 3 pages. Otherwise the reader would be better off buying "the Girlfriends Guide to.." series by Vicki Iovine or "What to expect the First Year"
The book rambles on in many different directions and doesn't really offer any REAL useful advice for a new mother of multiples (or any mother for that matter).
Better reads for new mothers of multiples would be:
1.) "Mothering Multiples: Breastfeeding & caring for twins or more" by Karen Gromada
2.) "When you're expecting twins triplets or quads: a Complete resource" by Barbara Luke
