Rating: Summary: Be patient--it does get easier Review: Stick with the breastfeeding, Moms! It took me over a month to get comfortable with it and for my nipples to toughen up. But it truly is one of the best things you can do for your child. The book is a very supportive and non-judgemental companion, even for mothers who decide to supplement with formula. I have a 2 1/2 month old who is very happy on the breast (strictly). Great tips on storage and a "life in the day of one working mother". My only criticism is that it doesn't help you with birth control options at all! I have an older copy, but there are pills on the market that are supposed to not interefere with your milk supply.
Rating: Summary: a lifesaver Review: This book covers EVERYTHING! I am so glad I got this before I had my son. By the time he was here, I had already read the entire book and felt comfortable and at ease with nursing him. When I had a painful clogged duct, this book really helped and told me exactly what to do and not to do. This is a MUST for every breastfeeding mother. I don't know whatI would have doen without it.
Rating: Summary: A Must Have for New Mothers Review: This book is a must have for all new mothers. It is a comprehensive guide that covers all of the challenges in a no-nonsense how-to approach. I found myself picking this book up daily as a new mother to meet the challenges I was facing with nursing. It's one of those books you feel the need to pass onto someone else when you are done...to help someone else in need
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: This book is great for anyone considering to breastfeed. I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Can't say enough good things about this book! Review: This book really covers the details that all the other books don't address or skim over. I never in my life thought that breastfeeding could be so involved but it really is. I am a mother of 2 and breastfed the first one for 13 months and am still breastfeeding my other one and used it throughout my breastfeeding experience. It is worth every penny!!
Rating: Summary: For any woman who is even THINKING about having a baby! Review: This book saved me a number of times when I had what I thought were unanswerable questions. It also gives the nursing mother the validation that is sometimes needed in a new, mysterious and wonderous experience. My baby is now 2 years old and stills wants "na-na" so it may be time for me to go back to my well-worn copy to finding out about weaning!
Rating: Summary: A must read for pregnant mothers! Review: This comprehensive book covers all areas of breastfeeding. It includes pros and cons of nursing for both mother and baby. Mothers uncertain about whether or not they will nurse will learn the important benefits and get practical advice. Those who are certain they want to nurse can use this book as a guide from pregnancy to weaning. It is a quick read but contains important information on an important decision.
Rating: Summary: Good but out of date Review: This is a pretty good book, but wait to buy it until they come out with a newer edition. This edition had some out of date information (such as the fact that DHA and ARA, two important igredients found in breastmilk, are now added to formulas) and also I couldn't find any info on the American Academy of Pediatrics' recommendation that breastfed babies be supplemented with vitamin D, and this is something I would have liked to have known the pros and cons about. This would is a great book for finding information quickly and easily, however if you're an information junkie like me or are interested in this book as a professional, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Clear answers and instructions, I highly recommed it. Review: This was my breastfeeding bible. As a working mother I did not want to deny my baby breast milk. This book was wonderful.
Rating: Summary: The best breastfeeding book Review: This was the book I referred to the most when I was breastfeeding my daughter. I already knew that I wanted to breastfeed her, I didn't need persuading. What I needed was easy-to-find information and answers to my many questions. Nobody close to me had breastfed their children. I was a part of a breastfeeding group, but that only met once a week. In between, I consulted this book. How to ensure that she is latching on correctly? Will this always hurt? What are the symptoms of thrush? What are some suggestions for increasing supply? What should I look for in a pump? I consider my breastfeeding experience a positive one and I have this book to thank for that.
