Rating: Summary: You already know this stuff Review: The "secrets" listed in the book aren't really secrets, but there is some good advice about being the kind of empowered, feminine woman that's happy with herself that attracts men that might be of help to some women who tend to forget their femininity or get stuck in a low self esteem rut...
Rating: Summary: good but cheesy Review: The advice in this book is actually quite good but I think the way its written is a bit cheesy. It is told in a fairy tale like way its a bit like you are being spoken to like a child.. But the points the author make are really good and there is a lot of value in reading it if you are feeling a bit disillusioned with your relationship and wondering why you arent actually being nice to each other anymore! It may have had a bit more impact if the author had of used real life case stories instead of the imaginary characters. But its worth grinning and bearing the writing style because I think most of her suggestions actually work, or at least give you something to think about.
Rating: Summary: Some useful ideas but mostly all well known information Review: This book was a helpful reminder of what I had read in other books. I found the writing slow moving and by the time I got to the so called "secrets" I found them predictable. There are a few good points in this book but not enough to fill a whole book. It did not have the depth that I was looking for.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've read on the subject! Review: This is an excellent book, though it's delivery does tend to be a bit cheesy. It took awhile to get through the "this book will teach you...", "after reading this...." "what you'll learn in this book..." etc but its well worth the wait when you get to the actual material. I've read dozens of books on men, women, relationships, marriage, etc and I highly recommend this one. Kara Oh is a very knowledgable writer and this book is easy to read and gets to the point that men are people too and deserve just as much love and respect as we (women) 'require' they give to us. This is one of my new favorite books along with two others that I highly recommend: "The 5 love languages" and the Carlson's "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff in Love". They all teach you how to recognize your own contributions to your relationships and how your attitude and actions can greatly improve your situation and make everyone feel loved, as well as how to be happier in general. The key thing people tend to forget is that it's no one else's responsibility to make you happy and it's wrong to expect that your happiness is in the hands of your partner or anyone else other than yourself.
I definitely suggest anyone interested in bettering themselves and their relationships whether you are single, dating, or married: BUY THIS BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Boring Review: Unfortunately there is not much help in this "self-help" book. Disappointing.
