Rating: Summary: Excellent for those expecting multiples Review: After the initial shock that we would have not one, but two babies, this book became my best friend. It gave me tons of practical information on types of twinning and what to expect during my pregnancy. In fact, my doctor was even impressed at the specific questions I was able to ask based on the knowledge from this book. I would highly recommend the book to anyone expecting two or more. It's easy to read and is loaded with useful information.

Rating: Summary: Balanced Book Review: As another review says, this book if full of "what could go wrong", but in no way did it scare me, because it was always followed up by what to do to lower your chances of those complications happening to you. You need to be aware of how a Twin or other multiple pregnancy is different from a single pregnancy in order to be sure of how to take care of yourself. This book will give you that information. I felt it was neither too liberal in its approach or two conservative (Barbara Luke's similar book is much more conservative in its approach to twin pregnancies).

Rating: Summary: twin mommy Review: I did not like this book at all. It was hard enough to find a book on twin pregnancies period. Once I got this one all it did was scare me to death, talking mostly of all the things that could go wrong. That I already knew, I wanted to know what to expect with a healthy pregnancy. I switched to Your pregnancy week by week. It gave me the info I needed plus an info page on multiple pregnancy. This one was put away. I did end up losing one of my twins to a birth defect, however, I don't feel this book prepared me for what to expect. I gave it 2 stars because it did have some helpful info on diet and fluid intake.
Rating: Summary: fantastic book Review: I have read this book, and felt it was a very informative book telling you all 'as it is'! It went through many different issues of things that can go wrong, which is very important, so that if something does go wrong, you can be aware of it, and speak to your doctor about it, before its too late!! It also went through the foods and vitamins that is necessary to eat as a pregnant mom of multiples. It divided the book with trimesters, which made it very easy to look up anything, you have a question about during the pregancy. It made me very comfortable knowing that a doctor herself wrote the book, (and someone who had twins herself- so she 'really' knew all the ins and outs) and that it was not just written by some journalist or someone. It was easy reading and very educational. I felt it was very similar to another book I've read called "Twins, Expert Advice from two Practicing Physicians on Pregnancy and the First Year", by Connie Agnew. The reason it got 4 stars instead of 5 was because certain times, I felt that the author jumbled around and wrote things in 2-3 different places, where I would have preferred to read about that specific thing, all in one place, but otherwise, its a great book for anyone expecting multiples to read!
Rating: Summary: Putting Your Twin Pregnancy at Risk? Review: If you're young, healthy, and physically fit when you conceive, this book may be just fine for you. Dr. Leiter herself worked up till late (37 weeks?) in her twin pregnancy, and I believe she also bragged about carrying her pregnancy to 40 weeks. I was shocked that an obstetrician would think carrying twins to 40 weeks was good medicine, as 37 weeks is considered "term" for twins, and carrying a twin pregnancy beyond 38 weeks can have heartbreaking consequences.A multiple pregnancy requires extra care, and ideally, an obstetrician who is experienced in the challenges of a multiple pregnancy. Ultimately, I followed the advice in another book, and switched from a regular OB to a Perinatologist. One thing I have learned is that lots of OBs (if not all) seem to think that they can handle a patient pregnant with twins. My sister lost a twin pregnancy, and so did my cousin. After watching their heartache, I decided to pursue the most conservative path. Long story short, my twins were born healthy, big, and we were all discharged from the hospital on the same day!
Rating: Summary: very helpful! good balanced information. Review: My mother-in-law gave me this book about midway through my twin pregnancy. I had bought a different "twin pregnancy" book that I found alarming and outdated, so I was skeptical. However, I found this book to contain good information and a good balance of two ideas: 1. Having/carrying twins is more complicated than a singleton pregnancy, and there are added risks to the mom and babies. 2. In most cases, mom and babies will come through just fine. I really needed the emphasis on *both* of those concepts, because this was my second pregnancy, and the first ended in stillbirth (due to unpredictable, very rare complications very early on). So I was scared, and I felt that it wasn't productive for me to dwell on that fear. This book helped me to recognize the potential concerns in a realistic way, and it allowed me to acknowledge the idea that pregnancy and childbirth are pretty normal and usually work out just fine. It is a good resource for me, in combination with What to Expect When You're Expecting. (At the time of this writing, I am 27 weeks pregnant and my boy/girl twins are healthy.)

Rating: Summary: twin mommy Review: There are many books on pregnancy, but few address the special and specific needs of moms expecting multiples. This book has "Everything you need to know to have a healthy twin pregnancy" and will prove to be of great comfort from first trimester till after your delivery. It has everything from nutritional information to specific concerns for moms carrying multiples. You'll find yourself referencing it daily. What's even more comforting is that it is written by an ob/gyn who has had twins herself. This book would make a great gift for someone expecting twins.
