Summary: The Lifesaver Book
Review: This book gave me a sense of calm when i realized that i was not the only person who was going through this difficult stage. The book was very realistic and it can be of great help to caregivers who are just starting down this road.

Summary: Everything you ever wanted to know about Dementia/Alzheimer
Review: Elder Rage was written with a sense of humor coming from a broken heart. It seems to be Jacqueline Marcell's way of keeping herself from becoming demented.

This book is extremely helpful for caregivers like myself. My 75 year old husband has just been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's Disease. I've been running to libraries and book stores trying to find everything I can to get myself ready for the inevitable worst case scenario.

Marcell's book had more resources and suggestions than any other book on Dementia that I've read to date. I feel it is a MUST HAVE for everyone faced with caregiving an elderly person who is slipping from reality.

Marcell is the "Dr. Spock" of the Elder Generation.

Thank you Jacqueline. It's good to know that even though there's no hope for recovery, there's hope for comfort and peace for both of us in this difficult time.

Summary: Elder Rage or Take My Father... Please!
Review: Excellent resource for those caring for aging parents, but also filled with sound advice for those of us caring for a spouse with dimentia. Statistics warn of the increasing numbers of Alzheimer's victims in the coming decades - it is rapidly becoming a national health crisis. Humor is the key to caring for loved ones with this terrible disease and this author understands this essential element to successfully dealing with a loved one who suffers from dimentia.

Summary: What a Dilemna!
Review: This book, Elder RAge, hits the problem that so many of us are facing at this time of life. The author injects just enough humor to lighten an otherwise "too heavy" subject.
Caring for our parents is right on these days, especially, with the large Boomer generation, coming of age.
The author knows what her homework is. She includes excellent resource materials and has the endorsement of many popular "people in the know". I recommend this book to anyone who is caring for or will be caring for older parents.

Summary: Elder Rage...or Take My Father PLEASE
Review: An absolute must for ANYONE, ANYONE, that is or will be
faced with Elder Care. I wish I knew that my plight was
not unique, as Jacqueline mirrored my experience with
the incompentent medical professionals - also in Northen
California. I'm still frustrated, crazy and broke, but at least I know I'm not alone. She has provided a plethra of
resources, much needed for those who are about to encounter the next phase of their Elders lifes.

Pass it on to all the male members of the family, that seem
to disappear when the real work begins.

Summary: ElderRage or Take My Father... Please!!
Review: I am an avid reader, and found this book to challenge the senses. Having been going through some parent crises of my own, it was great to be able to laugh and cry, and know that someone else out there knew what I was facing on an everyday basis.
I could not put the book down, nor could I stop talking about it. It truly is a must read for anyone, with or without parent crises going on. A warm, understanding, and loving tribute to all our parents and the children who help them.

Summary: The bible for caregivers
Review: This book was so relevant to the time in my life. I felt as if she had written the book for me and even sometimes about me and what I was going through. Jacqueline Marcell has the ability to put her thoughts and feelings into such poignant details. I could not put the book down. I read it cover to cover in two days. I laughed with her and I cried with her throughout her adventure. This is a book that anyone who is or will be caring for an elderly person should be required to read. You will know you are not alone in this and you will survive and hopefully remain sane. I have passed this book on to many people and received it back with words of thanks for the recommendation.

Summary: Insightful, humorous and a must read
Review: As a student of Gerontology I was anxious to read this book. I laughed (Jackie is a wonderful writer) and cried as I read about Jake and Mariel Marcell. I found this book to be very insightful and agree that it is a must read for anyone who is dealing with the elderly or even studying the subject. Jacqueline Marcell writes in such a way that the reader cannot help but get caught up in what is happening and feel as though you are experiencing everything she is going through first hand. I applaud her for her strength in dealing with her parents (especially her father!), the many caregivers she had to screen and a system that needs a real overhaul when it comes to dealing with the elderly and what is really needed.

She has gone through a lot and thankfully she is sharing what she has learned with the rest of us by writing this book, creating a website ..., and doing speaking engagements.
