Summary: It really helped
Review: For years I watched as my mother struggled to take care of my difficult grandfather. Now I am trying to care for my very difficult father and I needed help. Finally, a story similar to my own with incredible resources to help those of us in this nightmare. The author tells the story with such humor and compassion, I had no trouble re-living my situation with her. Before I read this book, I thought I would loose my mind (as my husband can confirm!); don't loose yours grab this book and look in the resource section for help ( the story is great too).

Summary: You've Got To Read This Book!
Review: I was fortunate to hear Ms. Marcell's wonderful caregiving seminar that she did with The First Lady of California, Sharon Davis, at the Governor's Conference For Women recently, and WOW is she ever passionate about elder care. What a speaker! Then I stood in a long line to meet her and buy an autographed copy of her book. I finished it in two days because I could NOT put it down. She weaves so much valuable caregiving information through this incredibly well written and entertaining story. Then there's a great self-help section too. Now I'm empowered with so much knowledge of what to do to help my own parents through their "not-so" Golden Years. What a relief!

Summary: Not Just About Parents
Review: While Jacqueline's situation was about dealing with parents, and most readers will be having to deal with that too, this is an excellent book for anyone who has a loved on they are caring for who has any type of dementia. As the caregiver of a husband with HUntington's Disease, Jacqueline's experiences were so similar to mine in many ways. I too dealt with the rages, the manipulations and other behaviors.

This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to be assured that they are not alone in having to solve problems they never even knew existed. Told in a captivating easy to read style, Elder Rage is packed with solutions and is brutaly honest.

Thank you, Jacqueline, for writing such an honest and needed book.

Summary: Elder Rage or, Take My Father... Please!
Review: Finally, someone has written a book on aging that reads like a novel, yet is packed with the information that everyone with aging parents absolutly needs.

The author's ability to weave her personal horror story into a handbook on aging makes this book both entertaining and enlightening. I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it.

If you are a single orphan, this book is not for you. If you have parents or in-laws, you need to read Elder Rage.

Summary: A daughter who knows
Review: Elder Rage..........please take my father. The combination of sadness and laughter makes me believe how real this story is. I have taken care of both my father and mother and trying to keep their dignity in tack while helping them out of the bathtub or cleaning up after them, can be very difficult. Fortuantely, we did laugh but there were many tears also. Thank you, Jacqueline, for sharing your story and for also giving many of those 50+ kids ways in which they can cope and be there for their parents.

Summary: Finally, help is on the way!
Review: Before I read Elder Rage I felt like a person without a country. When my husband's parents entered thier "golden years" early I was totally unprepared. Most of my freinds were having babies, not dealing with aging parents. In my search for information, I not only found the answer, I found a compassionate, heart told story that I could relate to. As I read Elder Rage, I laughed, I cried and I felt renewed. I strongly recommend reading the story, but if you don't have time, pick up the book for the reference section alone,it is unmatched. Congratulations to the author, what a story!

Summary: A Must Read for Baby Boomers
Review: It took a lot of courage to put together this compelling look at dealing with dementia. Jacqueline puts her real-life struggle with her own father in the perspective of the whole family and their history. She does so with unexpected humor; in a situation like this, sometimes all you can do is laugh and it is very therapeutic. By telling this tale from her perspective as a daughter facing the daunting dask of caring for both elderly parents at the same time, she reveals many of the legal, medical, and psychological issues surrounding dementia that most people never know about until they are in the midst of the situation. She has given all baby boomers an inside look of what we may face in the very near future with our own families. Thank you so much for the inspiration and the information, Jacqueline. You are a saint.
