Summary: Rage?? What Rage??
Review: 'Elder Rage' was helpful in helping me to recognize that no one is alone is caring for aging and/or demented parents. The author writes in such a way as to help you laugh about situations which, otherwise, may not be comical. I highly recommend this book to anyone caring for elderly parents, demented or not.

Summary: Loved her humor for a difficult subject
Review: I especially loved the following quote from the book: " God made teenagers and the elderly mean on purpose-otherwise, their families would never be able to let them go."

Summary: Elder Rage or Take My Father...Please! : How to Survive Cari
Review: I Jack H. Gilbert have read this book from cover to cover.
I found 'ElderRage' to be very easy to read, very organized in the flow of the material and truly to be insightfull towards the problems in relating to our elder parents. The reason I am reading this book, and many others like it, is that I want to be prepaired for my parents in their elder years. I feel that Ms. Marcell has brought a complex subject into the fore front, has taken the steps to 'map out' a way to deal with, handle, and understand the problems our elders face.

The book can be read in one of two ways: 1) read the entire book; 2) go right to the references section in the back;
either way, you will benefit from this book.

Summary: Couldn't Put It Down
Review: I have just finished reading "Elder Rage" and I must tell you what a wonderful book it is! She intersperses her experiences as a caregiver for her elderly parents with considerable humor, so it is an enjoyable easy-read about a most difficult subject. Anyone who has unwittingly become a sole caregiver of parents (despite having siblings) can identify with her trials and tribulations. I also became exasperated with my search for an assistant as I realized my mom's physical and emotional problems were too much for me to face without help. I, too, sought medication for my mother when I realized she had become too difficult to control. If only I'd had this book then! Adult day care and the behavior modification techniques she describes are invaluable tools. This book demonstrates that you are not alone and that help is available if you know where to turn. Jacqueline is one who has truly "been there - done that." The story is riveting, and the self-help section is extensive and so helpful. If you have lived with this situation or think it is coming your way, this book can save your life. Jacqueline's website is filled with valuable resources too.

Summary: Fasten Your Seat Belt!
Review: You don't even need to be caring for aging parents or relatives to experience the wild ride of Ms. Marcell in caring for her own parents. As an administrator of an assited living community and one who has not lived this journey personally, my heart and soul was deeply impacted by her journey. I will never be the same after reading Elder Rage. Now, I have assigned the book to each of the Department Heads in our company. We will be discussing this book and the wonderful resources in the Appendices for months to come.

Summary: I'm not alone
Review: First, let me say I needed all the education I could find on this Disease, and this book was my teacher. Thank you Jacqueline for writing this book and helping all of us to answer all those difficult question that even our doctor's couldn't answer. This book made me laugh and made me cry, it also gave me the courage to stand up to those people in the medical field who did not want to listen to what we were saying. I read this book in 5 days, I could not put it down. I look foward on reading more on Mariel and Jake on your Web Site, I feel they are a part of my life now. Keep us updated on your upcoming appearances and speaking engagements, I look forward to meeting you.

Summary: Staying Sane Dealing with Dementia
Review: I have just finished reading the book and it is an excellent book - Having gone through a lot of the experiences I was able to laugh and cry with Jacqueline. This book is well written and is very informative for people going through the situations - when my dad went to have surgery it was fortunate I was able to be there to take care of him - or they would have operated on an 89 year old man just getting over pnemonia and still having a 101 fever. This will alert people as to their options and giving the knowledge of fighting on and not settling - unfortunately there are many incompetent doctors out there and they don't take a female opinion seriously when they are living with the problem and know exactly what's going on - recommended for anyone who is dealing with dementia problem.

Summary: Help At Last!
Review: ElderRage gave me inspiration to try new methods for behavior modification with my father, question the doctor's choices in medication, and so many addresses and telephone numbers for seeking help. I fumbled for months attempting to reach the right agencies for various assistance with my parents. Thanks to Jacqueline Marcell's book, I now have a multitude of resources.

This is a "must read" book for anyone involved in caring for someone with Alzheimer's, dementia or a debilitating stroke with memory loss. I laughed aloud; I cried crocodile tears. Just knowing someone understands, is comforting.
