I was very frustrated by how often I found myself yelling at my children, not to mention upset by how often they yelled back at me! This book offered an alternative to all that anger, and helped my to change the way I interact with my kids. The book explains four basic concepts for disciplining children--and how to apply them in the real world. In some of her examples, I could swear she was in my living room, describing my family; it was very real, and therefore very helpful. I also appreciated that the book was to the point, and did not go on and on. I don't have a lot of time to read about parenting, I'm too busy doing it. And this book was very valuable in terms of giving me more ways to be a better parent.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Works with teens, too! Review: I bought this book for the new mothers in my family but when I peeked inside I realized the author is speaking to me, the mother of a 16 year old daughter, not just to parents of toddlers. Lessons about parents' anger and how to get the child to take resposibility for important things - this stuff has been pure gold in our house. Read Chapter Two first. It is the heart of the book and really well-written. Just when you think nothing can help the tense situations of parenting, relief! Compassionate and funny too, I never felt like the author's training and expertise put her above me. Can't wait till my 16 year old has kids so *she* can read it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: 4 Weeks to a Better Behaved Child Review: I can't tell you the difference this book has made in our lives in not even four weeks! Within two days of finishing the book, my son was not only better behaved, but my husband and I were changing the way we responded to him and our other children. This book not only reenforces things you know, but may not always remember to use, but also teaches simple new ideas about discipline and childrens behavior. Focusing on the positive and praising "expected behaviors" has made a huge difference in all of our lives! I highly recommend this book! You will see a difference in your childrens behavior AND in yourself in no time!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Four Weeks to a Better-Behaved Child Review: I found the book easy to read, interesting and most importantly full of useful suggestions. The examples are especially good in relating the philosophical discussion to the real world. The good news is that her ideas work ! It's great to find a couple of simple rules which change a difficult if not impossible situation around so quickly. Everybody seems to win here.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Sensible and straight forward Review: If you calmly read this book without judging your child or yourself, then write down on your daily calendar a reminder to implement this author's ideas, you will find success. The theory is sensible and delivered in a straight forward message. You cannot lose.
