Review: This book is not written in the clear and concise manner of What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause.

Summary: A great guide to a delicate time in a woman's life
Review: This book is wonderful. Perimenopause is a stage of a female's life about which little is known. This book address this stage in a pragmatic, simple, step by step style. The author discusses the causes and effects of many symptoms women experience during perimenopause. It was easy to read, and understand. It addresses issues and concerns many doctors never discuss with their female patients ... they just prescribe drugs. This book is a very simple guide to how women can take some control back during this delicate time in their life.

Summary: I THINK THIS BOOK IS GREAT!!
Review: THIS BOOK PROVIDES A LOT OF GOOD INFORMATION AND SUGGESTIONS TO GET YOUR HORMONES BACK ON TRACK! THE AUTHOR DOES NOT CLAIM TO BE A CURE ALL, BUT SHE DOES PROVIDE HER 10 STEPS TO FEELING GOOD AGAIN! I HAVE FOLLOWED HER PROGRAM NOW FOR 2 WEEKS AND THE URGE TO TAKE SOMEONE'S BOTTOM LIP AND PULL IT OVER THEIR HEAD HAS SUBSIDED. I FEEL 90% BETTER IN JUST 14 DAYS!

Summary: Hard-To-Find Information
Review: This book really helped me understand more about what was going on in my life. As a 37-year-old woman starting to go through some rather dismaying changes, I was completely confused over various articles and other books I had read -- many seeming to contradict each other. Gittleman takes the latest information and explains it in layman terms. In one section, she provides a chart of symptoms and their underlying problems. I quickly (and excitedly) identified myself, and put into practice several of her nutritional recommendations. This lady knows her stuff! I feel so much better than I did 5 or 6 months ago. Even if you don't follow her diet plan, which I don't because I'm one of those who tends to eat on the run, the information on the appropriate nutritional supplements for your symptoms are worth their weight in gold. Before reading this book, I just had no clue about the right nutrition to help with my problems. I simply added a few recommended supplements, and they worked! Gee, if I followed her diet plan, too, I'd probably be Wonder Woman!

Summary: A Lifesaver!
Review: This book was a lifesaver! Shortly after turning 47, I experienced severe bloating, severe cramps, extremely heavy flow and frequent periods. I was so bloated I could not wear my ring, could not zip up my pants and the fold in my eyelid drooped down. My uterus felt so heavy, I felt as though it hung between my knees. My period was so heavy, I could not go to work, stayed in bed on a towel and went to the bathroom every 1/2 hour to change pads and tampons. I researched the internet and found black cohosh and progesterone cream which helped a little. It was not until I went to Women and Children First, a bookstore in Chicago, and requested books on perimenopause that I found Ann Gittleman's book, "Before the Change". I immediately read it and began her recommended vitamin and herbal supplements. I began to feel like myself within 2 weeks. The bloating is gone and my periods are almost back to normal after 4 months of supplements. I recommended her book to all my forty something friends.

Review: This is one of the most comprehesnive, easy to follow books on women's health I have ever used. I found the information well presented and thought out and backed by other sources I have used to try to address symptoms of premenopause.

Summary: Best of all Pre-Menopause Literature Out There
Review: This is the one to get for a natural approach to the inevitable change in your life. Even if you aren't sure that this is what you are experiencing, realize that sooner or later this book will provide you with the information you need to deal with this. (all women will go through menopause) Your doctor won't necessarily put one-and-one together for you, so read this book and see how it might help you adjust, and then discuss with your doctor your conclusions.

This is a great book, and it helped me a lot. I never thought those "night sweats" were related to anything changing in my body. I was convinced I had some kind of infection/fever. I am too young (44) to be going through "the change". Without a living mom around I needed some kind of reference. This was it. I refer to it often now, and I am looking forward to this change in my life through new eyes, and a healthier mind as an informed woman.

Summary: Good Book, But....
Review: This was one of the best books that I have read. Prior to reading this book, I knew my body was feeling different but did not understand some of the symptoms and was not quite sure how I would explain them to a doctor. Well, now I don't need to. I took some of the advice on the Peri-Zapper's and within days I had more energy, my mood was better and I was sleeping like a baby again. I really believe that if I had gone to see a doctor I would have been on various medications which would not have got to the root of my problems.
