Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great for vegetarian (meatless) babies and toddlers. Review: I used this book to feed my son who does not eat meat or poultry. I found the recipes easy to prepare and so did my son's nanny who could not cook prior to working for us.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A terrific book Review: I wanted to prepare healthy meals using mostly organic ingredients for my baby once she moved beyond pureed food. From the onset, I was stuck. This book saved me. The recipes are easy, the food combinations delicious, and most of all, my 10-month old has loved every meal I have made so far. They are so basic, healthy and really tasty. I do ignore some reccomendations (introducing liver, for one) and stick to foods that I feel she is ready for. Another great feature is that the book offers guidance on freezing techniques, reheating and food preperation, which is very helpful.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Lost My Trust in the Author Review: I would not recommend this book. First, in several recipes Karmel is adding sugar or maple syrup. One reason people make their own food is to avoid just that! Secondly, she has a recipe introducing peanut butter at age 6-9 months. Some experts will say not to feed peanut butter, peanuts, or even peanut oil until atleast 3 years of age; while others say the baby should be atleast 1 year. I must say 6-9 months is very early for such a highly allergic food. A reaction from peanuts is quick and could be deadly! Another thing that was troublesome was she doesn't mention that feeding foods like spinach and carrots can cause a form of anemia in children. I guess it is due to nitrates in the soil. Baby food companies are aware of this and test. Other baby food books I have read recommend you wait on making (and buying them already prepared) these ingrediants until a certain age. The American Academy of Pediatrics will back this one up. The book is pretty, it is simple to read. But I think the author needs to continue her research.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best on the market Review: Karmel's book was recommended to me by a friend and mother or 2 (age 7 and 3). She swore that her children's love of a wide range of healthy foods was due to the spices introduced in these simple recipes.I went to the bookstore and perused all 3 books by Karmel and, while this is her first, it seems to be the best: organization and comprehensive content. I then borrowed the book from the library. I've been using the recipes for 2 months and my son LOVES everything he's tried. The variety in tastes helps me keep up with his curiosities. I borrowed other books from the library, including Ruth Yaron's text. Honestly, Karmel's book was easier to use in the kitchen (held itself open) and the chart made quick references a cinch. Today, after having proven this book to be the best and knowing I'll use it over and over, I am purchasing it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: My baby eats better than I do! Review: My 7 1/2 month old has liked every dish I have made for her from this book. Not too fussed initially on the lentils but has got used to it now. I love the fact that I can make her interesting, nutritious and healthy food. Every time I make up a recipe my husband and I taste it and it really tastes good. Our freezer is full of little cubes of food now. Her teachers at daycare always comment on how nice her food smells and they are always trying to guess what the latest dish is. Dishes are naturally sweetened, for example adding grapes to a chicken and zucchini dish. Scrumptious! The dishes are quick and easy which is a plus for a mother with a full-time job, and they use ingredients easily found in any grocery-store. A favorite is banana with avocado and yoghurt. So quick and easy to prepare and it is finished in no time flat. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Innovative recipes, especially for "combining" early foods Review: Parents need to take their paediatrician's advice on when to introduce certain foods (eg. sugar, peanut butter). Armed with this advice, you can look through Karmel's book for recipes that appeal to you for the stage of your baby. I am still using this book some years on. I found it particularly helpful for the 4-7 month age group where the foods can be SO BORING, but Karmel gives interesting combinations of fruits and vegetables that can help make a bland baby diet more interesting.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Great Recipes Review: This book has easy interesting recipes and a handy meal planning guide. However, there was little discussion of which foods could be introduced at what point and why. I also found that this book contradicted itself in many places. For instance it would talk about not offering peanuts or fish at a certain stage and then pages later for that same stage, would be a recipe using peanut butter or fish. As a new mom I don't know what to do with this kind of contradictory advise.
