Summary: A resource every parent should use.
Review: As a mother of three and one who differs greatly with my husband about discipline, this book is a wonderful tool to use. With two teen-agers and one who thinks she is, I find this book extremely helpful (even with my husband and in all honesty, for myself as well). Great reading, easy!

Summary: I recommend this as supplemental reading
Review: I bought this book because of the title & based on a recommendation from a friend. The book arrived in the mail and I immediately flipped open to the page about children biting (as my one year old was beginning to do). There were several aspects to their advice and some of those I agreed with & that have been effective. There was a lot that I thought was ridiculous & on a path to having an out of control, undisciplined child though. I would recommend this book to someone as supplemental reading for the ideas that you can mold into your framework for "postive discipline".

Summary: I use this book in the classroom
Review: I make sure my student's parents have this book when they arrive in class! This book is like a dictonary for parents! A-Z literally, each alphabet has a few chapters dedicated to the most common problems parents and teachers face.Why is this book so helpful? 1)It guided me to the rehlm of a child's thinking pattern 2)It helped me involve my student's in my own thinking pattern 3)It offers solutions! The solutions are easy to apply, with work of course, and are realistic. I left the book with one main idea..that is..Its all about the attitude. How much do you want to change your habits and work on them? So your children, neices, nephews ect.. will notice the "reaction" you offer them and they will change too based on the descions you decide to present to them! (With action of course) This book is easy to read, wonderful to share, and both mommy and daddy should read it together and involve the whole family in providing a secure, loving and peaceful home!

Review: The authors have taken Alfred Adler's and Rudolf Dreikurs' ideas for counseling the family and put them into an easy-to-read, self-help guide. The book began with general guidelines to making family life more enjoyable by using concepts such as respect and family meetings. The second part, and majority of the book dealt with specific family issues in an A-Z reference format. The book was excellent. My rating of four stars instead of five is because of the minimum amount of credit given to Adler and Dreikurs.

Summary: good supplement
Review: This book came recommended by friends, I found it good supplemental reading to my other parenting books, It had some GREAT ideas in it that were very helpful and some other info that I just did not feel was fitting to my parenting style.
It had alot of great info though and well worth the read,

Summary: Positive Discipline The First Three Years
Review: This book is clear, realistic, and useful. I am a parent educator and I give it at every baby shower that I attend. Good stuff!!
