Rating: Summary: Feed my family better - New Year's Resolution for 2005 Review: This book was very informative and easy to read. I gained a lot of insight into how our bodies work with the nutrients we give them, as well as learning all about good fats vs. bad fats, not to be worried about my picky eater toddler, and the importance of setting up good eating habits for my children while they're young.
The only difficulty I had with this book was in the great side-bar tidbits of information, they sometimes got me distracted from the main thread I was reading, and it was hard to find my place again sometimes.
I was at a seminar with Dr. Sears as the speaker on family nutrition, which prompted the purchase of this book, and I don't regret either the purchase or my New Year's Resolution to feed my family healthier.
Rating: Summary: Practical, Comprehensive Nutrition Made Simple! Review: This is a most helpful and informative book! I ran across it when I was looking for information on lowering MY high cholesterol. I found what I came for and much more.
This book takes you through the body's basics but also explains in simple terms the body's intricate workings on a molecular level. It also gives you understandable information on the hot topics in the health headlines such as healthy vs. unhealthy fats, vitamin functions, fiber hows and whys, grains, soy, etc.
There is comprehensive coverage of all the food groups and gives the reader good explanations and practical applications for improving their health.
As I'm sitting here writing this review I'm sipping a delicious beverage that cannot stop drinking. Absolutely fabulous stuff! Made from roasted soya that you brew like coffee. My doctor said my cholesterol dropped 30 points thanks to this. Look for it online at www.s oycoffee.com. As for the book, it's pure pleasure reading.
A fantastic book for anyone looking to gain a basic education on good health at any age!
Rating: Summary: Complete Nutrition Book for Anyone! Review: This is a very informative nutrition book that focuses on the needs of growing children, but is a good source of information for anyone. It is a very long book, but probably the only one you'll ever need because it covers everything!
Rating: Summary: Extremely informative Review: With a 1 year-old son and the awesome responsibility of feeding him properly I found I needed a reference book. This book is just that and so much more. The book is great for parents and kids. I love the great examples and user friendly reading layout. I am delighted to learn so much about nutrition, how different foods affect the body and how to eat right to have optimal performance and fight cancer. I did not find the book at all guilt inducing. We all do what we can and any little bit you do to give your kids a better chance is great. Overall this is a great read, packed full of valuable information. Enjoy and good health!
