Rating: Summary: Baby Bargains is a better buy Review: This is a cute book with the typical Iovine charm, however, I think Fields' Baby Bargains, and now, Toddler Bargains are better purchases if you're really interested in what to buy.
Rating: Summary: Fun, easy, informative read. Review: This is a great book for first time mom's. Its easy to read, short and to the point, entertaining and full of information and what you need, how much you will need and what you dont need.
There are great overviews of different baby necessities and safety devices. As well as what you want to splurge on and what you can get away with skimping on.
I would definately reccomend this to anyone who is about to venture into a baby superstore for the first time.
Rating: Summary: You need this book! Review: This is one of the best books I've read during my pregnancy! Iovine's sometimes offbeat humor and no-nonsense approach the the labyrinth of baby stuff have kept my sanity intact, me laughing, and our budget considerably less strapped. The strong emphasis on practical and safety considerations have been a must as we entered our first baby superstore and were ready to run screaming back to the parking lot. Just the chaper on cribs alone saved us hours of heartache and confused wandering around baby stores, not to mention helping us to avoid some potentially hazardous mistakes. The book has accompanied us to every store we've visited. Perhaps most importantly, my knowledge of and confidence in what we need and where to find it has increased exponentially -- which is invaluable, as there are more than enough other things to stress and panic about!
Rating: Summary: Exntensive lists and explanations of what you really need! Review: ~This book was really helpful esp. for first time parents. As Vicki says several times in the book, new parents/grandparents are often lured into the world of baby boutiques. After reading this book (I advise BEFORE your shower and BEFORE baby comes) I took back lots of stuff and didn't register for certain items at the authors advice. Now my son is 13 months old and let me tell you....I don't think he missed out not having the fancy baby bedding set, the baby wipe warmer, or the designer baby~~ clothes. She is REALLY right on target with her baby gear suggestions! GREAT READ!~
