Summary: Great Comprehensive Guide for Real People
Review: This is a great book that provides all the information that you will need. I found it the only book I could find that wasn't full of "fru fru" or very traditional advice. The book does contain a lot of information and I found myself skimming certain chapters, but I was never unable to find a piece of information that I needed. I found this guide invaluable. I agree with the other readers that it isn't full of off beat ideas, but that isn't the market this book is covering. It does contain many ideas that are different and encourages you to have the wedding the way that you want, even if it doesn't fit the traditional model. If you want a comprehensive guide to throwing a wedding and only want one book, then this should be your book.

Summary: A great wedding guide
Review: This is an excellent book for everything you need to know about planning a wedding. It was the only book I used, and I highly recommend it.

Review: This is the only wedding book anyone will ever need. Marcy Bloom knows her stuff and it shows. This book made planning my wedding fun and easy, so my fiancee' and I could enjoy the engagement (what a concept!). Thank you Marcy!

Summary: An oasis of realism in a world of bridal commercialism
Review: This was the fourth and LAST wedding planning book I purchased while planning my wedding. As soon as I opened the book, I said "Finally! A book that is written for a intelligent being, not a slave to the bridal magazines!" This book has great, down to earth advice for a bride (or groom) to be... I highly recommend it as your first wedding planner -- and for a good laugh!

Summary: This book is the best!
Review: Weddings for Dummies arrived yesterday and already I have found it to have more of the information that we need to plan a wedding than any of the numerous books I've read. The tone is irreverent, like all Dummies books, which is refreshing in an industry that takes itself so seriously. Every aspect is covered; even how to make a comb stay in your hair. This is not so much an etiquette book of do's and don'ts, but a great resource for planning the wedding that YOU want.

Summary: An invaluable tool for anyone planning a wedding!
Review: Weddings For Dummies is chock full of information on everything from engagement announcements and bridal gown terms to great money saving "insider" wedding industry tips on how to negotiate with caterers, photographers, etc.

This book gives all the nuts and bolts information in a very light-hearted way from how many square feet of dance floor you need per guest to a checklist of gratuities and other miscellaneous expenses to help you determine a real budget you can work with. Most wedding books focus on style and design ideas, which is fine, but they overlook the facts on the technical aspects of wedding planning. Weddings For Dummies is a practial tool that a couple could use to make their wedding dreams come true.

I have been coordinating weddings and special events for almost 20 years. I was voted "Best Wedding Planner" by New York Magazine in 1997 and received the Silver Spoon Award for professional excellence from Food Arts Magazne. I wrote Weddings For Dummies with my co-author Laura Fisher Kaiser, who became engaged and planned her own wedding while we wrote. Between the two of us we brought to the table what brides and grooms REALLY need to know - not the "fluff" but the reality.

Summary: Weddings for dummies is the perfect engagement gift.

Summary: No question, the best wedding book around
Review: Weddings For Dummies is the only guide you'll need to making your big day perfect. The authors have a sensible approach and they provide all the details and tricks of the trade that would take a lifetime of wedding planning to learn. If that wasn't enough, the material is presented in a easily accesible format and with enough humor to keep things in perspective. A great gift for the bride (or groom) to be. Get an extra one for the parents. They'll thank you for it. You will get a big return on your investment in this book. I practically wore the covers off of mine.

Summary: A bit to basic!
Review: Weddings For Dummies® assumes that people do not know anything at all when it comes to weddings. Personally, I found that most of the tips were very usefull, however, some of the advice was a bit silly.

Summary: More help than eight wedding planners combined!!
Review: When I started planning our wedding I wanted to do it right. I bought eight different wedding planning books, read them all twice. I was still frantic and disorganized, however, until I found "Weddings For Dummies" with four months to go. Suddenly, I was organized! I was able to plan every last detail with confidence instead of paranoia! And our wedding day was just perfect! EVERY Bride-to-be NEEDS this book!
