Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Too religious for me Review: Although this book is well written and has excellent advice, I was put off by all the scripture quoting and references to "Our Heavenly Father". Also, I could not get past the fact that he condones spanking. I think this would be a great book for someone who had never read any parenting books and was very religious. After reading many parenting books, I found nothing new in this one, and would much rather reccomend "Kids are worth it" or "How to talk to your Kids...", "Positive Discipline" or Sears' "The discipline book"
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Best parenting book I have read yet! Review: And i have read a lot! I am a full-time mother of very active three-year-old twin boys. My mother was a yeller and I swore I would not parent that way. However, once the boys hit two I found myself beginning to fall into that pattern. If I didn't yell or vent, I carried around anger at them which spilled over to my husband when he came home from work. I wanted nothing more than to escape from my life and even considered going back to work even though I really wanted to raise my own children. This book didn't just tell me what to do in a certain situation, it gave me a change of perspective. Now I can figure out on my own what to do before I get angry. Both of my boys are responding beautifully and we have a lot more fun together than ever before. There is also a lot more affection between all of us. BUY THIS BOOK!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Book!! A MUST for all parents Review: Dr Leman is right on target. It is easy reading, but not at all a light topic. All parents should read this book. I find myself wanting to give it to parents I see in the store and on the street. I tell all my friends about it and about Dr Leman. Overall, it is an excellent Christine based guide for parents.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours Review: Dr. Leman gives parents practical and inspirational advice in "Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours". His views on "reality discipline" fall right in line with the way my husband and I have been trying to raise our four girls. It was wonderful to have support for the way we "discipline" vs. "punish" our kids. He also gives practical advise with examples on how to handle situations that arise in all families. From temper tantrums to tattling, hope and help is here!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Practical Wisdom for raising great kids!! Review: Dr. Leman's humor and common biblical based sense makes this book a great book for mom and dad, educators and ministers. I have also taught the video series with the same name and it is wonderful, everyone enjoyed it. I just wish it was around when my kids were small. They will be getting a copy for their children. With topics like Becoming the parent God wants you to be, reality discipline and let the little buzzards tumble, Dr. Leman is on the top of my recommended list!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Life Line Review: First bought this book 13 years ago. Good to see it's still going strong! The advice in here is Christian based, but he doesn't beat you over the head with that fact. I too loaned it to a friend, who loaned it to her friend and I never saw it again. I think every parent should have a copy for themselves. I still refer it, and my children are now 17, 14 and 13.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good book to rate your parenting skills on Review: I am not a reader, however, this book has the right ingredients to keep even the less than casual reader engaged. I cannot say that I am a great parent, but this book helps you gage how well you are doing as a parent. It's a good feeling to know that someone has the same feelings about the parenting approach that you are and is doing well with their children. However this book suggests that we as parents seek help from other parents to help improve our skills. Also, this book, however religious in tone, is not overly religious. Mr. Leman uses references from the Bible as well as provides quotes, but the whole book doesn't linger on it. I don't feel that their additions would offend a person. Great book to read for a parent to assist them in their life long investment as well as a means to see how you feel you are doing as a parent.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book is a must for every parent! Review: I bought this book for the first time about 6 years ago when my son was 3 and we had just had our 2nd child. I read it, loaned it out to a friend, and never saw it again. I've since bought 8 copies, all of which I have read and then given away. I now have 3 children, ages 3,6 and 9 and am getting ready to order another copy. I love this book! Every one needs help now and then and I am so thankful that there are good christian people willing to share their mistakes and victories with the rest of us so we in turn can make better judgments ourselves!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Best parenting book I have read yet! Review: I can't thank Kevin Leman enough for his wisdom and insight. I feel incredibly fortunate to have come across this book as well as it's author - I plan on purchasing another, "Bringing up kids without Tearing them Down..." Parenting is sooo hard if you try to figure it out alone but Leman makes it super simple and what better standard than the one set forth by God. I am a far better parent having read this book. My perspective of my role has completely changed and is much healthier, happier, and comfortable. And it's so simple! Thank you Kevin Leman for writing this book - the ONLY book necessary for properly raising our children.
