Rating: Summary: Perfect Timing Review: A friend of mine read this 4 years ago, 4 years after her divorce. I remember her raving about how it helped her see she wasn't losing her mind and if she was, it was normal. Now I'm needing to read it as well. Only 4 chapters in and I haven't felt more relieved that my roller coast of craziness isn't uncharted waters. An excellent resource and guide to finding your way out of the deep end of the pool. A must read!
Rating: Summary: Self-Help When You Need It Most Review: An easy to read and intriguing step-by-step guide to
the emotions felt through separation and divorce. It helps the reader to realize that he/she is not crazy, but is only following the natural path to get on with
their life and surviving.
Rating: Summary: Definitley a NO nonsense guide for divorce recovery Review: Divorce is for many people difficult because we are forced to consciously deal with OR avoid those areas about ourself, which may have been responsible for the breakup of the marriage. Through each emotional phase of the divorce process, which for myself may have started the day I met my ex-spouse, the author provides you examples of real life circumstance. Although I don't agree with all the themes of the book, clearly we each approach and react to the process differently. This book pulls no punches, so be prepared to agree and disagree, but most importantly read this only if you want to face yourself.
Rating: Summary: She nails the weird feelings of divorce! Review: Divorce really is a crazy time ... you feel both crazy and stupid. However, it's a temporary situation. Trafford not only offers help for confusion and disorientation of this major life transition, she helps you face your own painful feelings. When she talks about the difference between public and private divorce, you'll find yourself nodding your head vigorously in agreement. This book should definitely be in your divorce healing library!
Rating: Summary: Thank You Abigail Trafford! Review: Finally, a book that addresses the emotional side of divorce in a manner that is easy to read and yet hits a chord inside your heart and your head that is startling and yet strangely comforting. What a relief to find out that I am not the only one living through some "Crazy Time" right now.
Rating: Summary: slightly hard to read Review: I agree with the reviewer that stated this book is not for childless divorces. I'd like to add that the author tends to use quite a bit of catchy phrases like 'Crazy Time' and repeats them far too often. The case studies and stories in the book can be helpful, but are really too numerous to appreciate. I did find the descriptions of common feelings and emotions to be helpful however. It's always nice to have those validated and understood. Not a bad book about divorce, but not one I would recommend.
Rating: Summary: A vital map for unscrambing your brain from divorce Review: I bought this book about 10 years ago while going through a divorce. I referred to it many times in a one year period of crazy time and still think about the book when I get the angries about losing my house and material goods to the ex hubby. This book will help you understand why divorce happens and step you through examining your role in the calamity. Now wait, here's the best part...it will give you hope that life can get better. After coming to terms I remarried 7 years ago and I'm happy to report it's great. Not all men beat their wives and you can change yourself to find someone different...and better.
Rating: Summary: Just what I needed Review: I bought this book at a low point in the divorce process, wondering if I would ever stop feeling depressed and angry, and thinking I was somehow a bad person for having those feelings. Imagine my surprise when I turned the pages of the book to find that I was NORMAL for feeling angry and depressed! Giving validation for my feelings, and taking ownership of them, gave me what I needed to master them and move on, standing up for what I needed in the divorce process and giving myself permission to cry sometimes. This book helped me become stronger and showed me that there can be a brighter future after divorce. I highly recommend this for anyone going through a divorce, especially those in "crazy time" whose feelings are not being validated. Divorce is the death of a dream, maybe in some ways worse than the loss of a loved one through a natural death, and it is okay to grieve. This book can help people cope with that loss, learn from it, and move on to a better life.
Rating: Summary: Learn what to expect as the end approaches Review: I couldn't understanding why "our" therapist encouraged me to read this book, since all the examples in the book seemed to including cheating partners. When the truth came out and my (former) partner admitted her infidelity, I couldn't escape the emotions, but I knew that they were normal because of this book. "Crazy Time" will give you hope that, sooner or later, you'll get over the pain of the death of your relationship.
Rating: Summary: A must for all going through divorce Review: I finished reading the book in 3 days and then gave it to my ex-wife. I think the author enlightened me into some of my own character flaws and helped me realize that it was't all my fault. It is probably one of the most important books I have ever read. It is a must for all those that are going through marital difficulties or those that have been divorced for years.
