Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: making the terrible twos terrific Review: What a sad idea of parenting. This expert would have us think that nurturing involves abuse (even subtle abuse). Spanking, leaving a baby to scream until he tires and no longer trusts his parent and other power over tequniques will not change the world into a peaceful place but further a divisive culture. We could learn from some of the cultures that practice loving parenting. I certainly do not reccommend this parenting book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Mom - reading and preparing ahead - with a 16-month old Review: What a wonderful and useful book this has been. It was a quick and information-packed read (which is great when you are trying to chase your toddler around)!! Sometimes parenting books are a huge let-down and I am afraid to waste the time and money on them. Not so with this book!! It was wonderfully written and I expecially love the q/a section in each chapter!!

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: big help for first-time mom Review: When my child entered the "terrible twos" at 18 months I was caught off guard. I began to appease her and she quickly established control. This book helped me gain control by detailing how to set and maintain limits. I am now calm and consistent with discipline. I realize that I am not being mean when I do not give her chance after chance after chance. The book has helped me understand her behavior, be proactive, and establish clear and consistent boundries. I now welcome her "testing" and know how to react.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: He thinks spanking is OK Review: While I have to admit I did get a few good ideas from this book, when he started talking about when it's OK to spank, I couldn't believe it. Then he went on to suggest a few pages later that you allow the babysitter to go about 50 yards in the car with your child not buckled in (when they were discussing a problem with the toddler not wanting to get in the car seat with a car pooler). After I read that, I decided to put the book down and never pick it up again. It's going in the trash!
