Review: "If I'm having a bad day teachers and kids tell me to smile. I've never heard them say that to a guy," states one of the many adolescent patients of Dr.Mary Pipher Ph.D. Dr. Pipher is the author of Reviving Ophelia, abook about the dangers of being a young female. Dr. Pipher is a therapist for adolescent girls. Dr. Pipher is a wonderful author because she uses informative advice for parents of adolescent girls.this book is very descriptive and full of details. Though at some points the book has too many details which can confuse the reader. Dr. Pipher uses some of her patients stories as for some of her categories. Some of her categories are: divoce, within the hurricane-depression, mothers, and saplings in a storm. I enjoyed this book so much that I am looking forward to reading her other book, Hunger Pains: The American Woman's Tragic Quest for Thinness. This book is one that I would recommend for future female adolescent therapists.

Review: I am a college student majoring in education and I chose to read Reviving Ophelia for a book critique. I really loved reading Reviving Ophelia. I have four children and I think it will help with my girls as well as boys. I would recommend this book to anyone with young daughters or anyone that has a role in a young persons life. It might make a difference in how you percieve and react to their behavior. I liked the case studies in it for reference. Some people may think the book is bias, I do not feel like it is. Great book!!! Please do one on young boys or maybe even men. That should be interesting.

Summary: Good book for the young and confused.
Review: The book was a great look at how teenage girls have so much trouble in all aspects of their lives. They could learn alot from reading this. They would find out that they are not alone in thier struggles and get support from the author's comments. Unforntunately for parents, most of the problems girls have can happen to their daughters. Parents could learn from this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book would be helpful for anyone raising a young girl.
Review: I am a college student majoring in secondary education. I chose this book for my reading requirement because I have a daughter who is on the cusp of adolescence. After reading this book, I feel I am more alert to what can cause changes in my daughter's behavior, attitude, self esteem, and peer choices. This book also renewed my faith with the knowledge that young girls can survive bad influences in adolescence and still develop into productive, intelligent, and compassionate women. My mother said to me as I was going through the journey of adolescence, struggling with our mother-daughter relationship, "The trip is rocky and full of obstacles, but what a wonderful friend awaits us at the end of the trip." At the time, I resented her for trying to protect me, now that she has passed away I would give anything to have her protect me again.
