Summary: Warning: A book about how to abuse your children
Review: This book is good only to those who believe that the few verses in Proverbs regarding child discipline can be interpreted as beating your child. Ridiculous. (Not good news for the children of those parents who agree with Fugate.) The author even endorses spanking your teenager. Give me a break.

Summary: This book is the answer to my prayers!
Review: This book is incredible. Our whole family is going through a change and I have God to think for giving J. Richard Fugate the wisdom and understanding to write this book. I recieved this book as a gift from our church after the dedication of our 3rd child and I will be forever thankful

Summary: The Best!
Review: This is a wonderful exposition of the Scriptures on the subject of children and child training. It should be read by all Christians because you will not only learn about how to train children, but you will learn about yourself, society, and why things are the way they are today. The book also illustrates the pattern of how God deals with believers as members of his family. I have read it several times and will probably read it several more times before I go home to be with the Lord.

Summary: A must read and apply for every parent who really cares.
Review: We live in an age of relativism. Everything is based on feelings and the pop culture mentality. Is there a proven method for training up children that is reliable? Fugate very carefully explains what the Bible says about the subject. However, there is one caveat. The teachings do not represent a "silver bullet". Much work is required, but what things of value do not. Your children are (should be) the first priority in your life. If you care, this book will show the way.

Summary: Our daughter is living proof of results of this book!!
Review: We read this book in 1987 after our daughter was born. We began to put to practice what we learned from this book when she was 6 months old and continue to use it daily in her life! It is the easiest to use and most practical daily use of God's principles we ever found. I continue to buy this book as I have over the years for friends who desire to have obedient children.

Summary: Child Abuse!
Review: When I browsed through this book at my local Christian bookstore, I was so upset that I had to leave the store. Millions of Christian parents and pastors have read the Bible, prayed, and have come to different conclusions than Mr. Fugate about how children should be treated. Just because an author says that his book is based on the Bible doesn't mean that his interpretation is valid. I tried to think of a polite way of saying this, but I don't know what else to say except that I believe that Mr. Fugate is a disturbed and cruel person. His basic philosophy of child rearing boils down to: hit your kids with sticks, beginning when they learn how to crawl, and continuing practically until they are adults. Fugate's idea of child development information is to tell you to increase the size of the stick you hit your kids with as they get older. He has stated that it is acceptable for parents to hit children until they are bruised. I find it difficult to even call this a Christian book.

Summary: Check the fruit
Review: When I first read this book, I really had a hard time with the principals in use... until I checked them with scripture. When in doubt, weigh it against the word. Then if it appears correct check the fruit of the person writing it. Keeping this in mind, and compare Fugate with authors of other books who have out-of-control children. Some of the same principals are taught in another book "To Train Up a Child" by Michael Pearl

Summary: This book is an excellent resource for parenting!
Review: When I was a young mother, I accidently heard Richard Fugate reviewing his book. It seemed just what I needed to guide my husband and I in training our children "in the way they should go." I used the book's advice, especially during the times when we just didn't know what to do, but wanted to be in God's will. Now that I am a grandmother, I was so thrilled that the book is still going strong in sales because I couldn't find my copy to send to my daughter. This is truly one of those books that will get passed down, because it helps a parent to remove all those "gray" areas and make sound, Bibilical decisions involving their children.

Summary: If you LOVE the Word of God & Your Children--BUY this book!
Review: Wow, This is such a wonderfull and scripturally ACCURATE Book, filled with the multitude of Scripture References which WILL absolutely bless your home and change it to a peaceful, GODLY home. I can not say enough good things about this terrific book. This book should be a mandatory read for all parents--especially bible believing, God fearing folk!

Today's society is filled with so much darkness, this book will shed some much needed light on how to TRAIN your children (NOT merely raise them) to be the boys and girls and then Men and Women who are filled with love, goodness, self-control and most important WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING and GODLINESS.
