Rating: Summary: Interesting and Useful Review: I received this book as a gift and read it practically cover to cover right away. It was really fun getting a peek into how research with babies works. It's amazing what they've found out babies can do. I also like the fact that the authors never forget the importance of the emotional side of everything. They emphasize that the games they describe are good ways to connect with a baby and that a warm relationship is the most effective way to help a baby learn. This book is a great choice for anyone with a child under the age of 3. I recommend it highly.
Rating: Summary: A great start to understanding a child's mind Review: I thought this was a great intro to understanding an infant or toddlers mind, and gives some very basic but very useful ideas for parents to incorporate into a child's daily routine. It IS very basic, however I know for a fact that some parents would never give thought to the importance of some of these simple ideas. This book also has a lot of excellent research articles which are very interesting, and of importance to any parent.
Rating: Summary: The only book that offer practical advices Review: I would give this book 4 STARS if I found another book in the same area that is better. The book offers many practical advices to produce a child with an advance and healthy mind. When I finished reading the book, I thought that it was written in a very primitive level, but after buying a few more books on the subject, I understood that this book must be in everyone's library in addition to a few other books.
Rating: Summary: lots of good ideas Review: I've already had fun playing games from this book with my baby, and I just started reading it last week. It's full of a) research explaining why babies enjoy particular activities, b) fun ideas for free toys around the house, and c) encouragement for new parents.
Rating: Summary: Excelent book, each parent should have it! Review: If you got chance read you will see for yourself!
Rating: Summary: Handy developmental help Review: Quick and easy 'games' for even the youngest baby, with descriptions of the developmental significance behind the fun. You probably do some of these things already - but this book lets you know just how a game of peek-a-boo helps a child's brain 'turn on' and grow.
Rating: Summary: A smart baby is a good Citizen Review: Teach your baby's mind to develop using the techniques in this book. Don't underestimate that importance of reacting to the Fast-Growth early stages of the infant mind. This book will help ANYONE to teach your baby to learn better.
Rating: Summary: Practical book Review: This book helps the parent that is hesitant in thinking up games for the child by herself. The authors explain how the child develops here brain by play. The principle is to observe your child carefully while interacting and let him or her surprise you. This is the starting point of your and her/his discoveries together. Furthermore, they explain the principle of sign language for children. Babies can understand a lot before their vocal chords are fully developed. Simple sign language can help you and your child to communicate early on and thus to develop quicker. It is a well written book that is structured and can be read quickly and in bits and pieces.

Rating: Summary: Good ideas but limited Review: This book is totally excellent in encouraging parents to stimulate their baby's mind from birth. But he is rather limited in some ways. It is all about stimulating logic, not so much about creativity. For example, the authors believe that a good MEMORY is what is needed to excel at school. That is what is wrong with the school system! We need to stimulate the ability to think, not just to remember. So, in addition to this book, have your baby look at things of NATURE, where there is infinite variations. eg silk roses, hang spirals, pictures of nature - not just geometric black and white things.
