Rating: Summary: Excellent !!!!! I couldn't ask for an easier way ! Review: My husband picked this book out, I was a bit unsure of it at first, I mean only 100 lessons for something so crucial as reading, But my daughter just took off with it she is so excited that she can read on her own now. She is 5. I am now starting with it on my 4 yr. old.
Rating: Summary: Simple & It Works! Review: I used this book with two of my children and had wonderful results. They went from non-readers to being able to read just about any kids' book in four months. Follow the instructions and your child will be reading, too. No extra materials are required except paper and pencil. Get it!
Rating: Summary: It is easy to use and works Review: It works best with kids that don't need a lot of repitition. I reccomend using a phonics/spelling rules book when finished.
Rating: Summary: If at first it doesn't work, try again later. Review: The first times my daughter and I tried this book, she said she hated it. Getting her to lesson 50 was a lot of work, so I put the book down for a few months. When we picked it up again it was so easy. I had her go quickly though three lessons a day until we got back to lesson 50, now we do one lesson a day. I think its a breeze because I found a reward she loves. Every day after her lesson I read a chapter of Patrica Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles (Princesses, dragons, magic, what more could a little girl want). Now she begs for her lesson everyday, and can read almost word she sees. Her brothes run to watch her read when she gets to the story part. I will start my four year old on this book as soon as I find something that will motivate him.
Rating: Summary: An outstanding book that really works !!! Review: I am teaching my 4 year old to read using this book and she is making great progress. It's extremely easy (maybe even too easy) and straightforward and all it takes to succeed is 15 minutes a day. I wish someone could point me to as good a book that can help teach kids math.
Rating: Summary: A must have for EASILY teaching your child ! Review: I am a mother of four boys. Two who have been old enough to be taught from this book. The eldest one would do anything to avoid learning and would love to have the t.v. attached as a body part. The other makes motor noises all day long and can't sit still. I purchased this book for the eldest last summer for a tool to prepare him for first grade reading. Since he can't stand to be in a learning mode...teaching him anything is a struggle. Yet this book is so easy and quick that despite his protests he learned and was amazed(and proud)on how far beyond his classmates he was when first grade started. Well after sending my first grader to school last fall I began teaching, my then four year old (the one that scientists invented ritalin for). For the twenty minutes he could actually sit still he absorbed the lesson swiftly and LOVED it. He came downstairs in the morning asking for his lesson. He would get stickers for each lesson and most of all a realization for himself that he was actually smart. When he pulls out books and reads, he fills up with pride as friends and family gawk in amazement. Of course as a Mom I am immensely grateful for this book because I was able to give my children a head start. It was so easy, I had a two year old and a newborn and could do this program in just twenty minutes with my older kids...just about all the time I had.
Rating: Summary: I taught my 4 year old with this book Review: The book is excellent and so easy to follow. Here are some tips that helped with my not so focused 4 year old: I had excellent results. I used stickers as incentive, gave "stars" for each lesson. The stars went on a special calendar in the kitchen for all to see. We had a special present/reward at lesson 50 and 100. We had a special play day at the completion of the lessons with cake. My son, Jake, would actually remind ME to do his lesson and as we approached lesson 50 (working for present) he "begged" me to do multiple lessons a day. It was harder some days to sit down, but first thing in the morning was best and NEVER, NEVER miss a lesson. It takes too long to get back into the groove.
Rating: Summary: Buy this Book! Review: I had heard about this book from a number of homeschool lists. Since my four year old son really wanted to learn how to read, but wasn't quite getting it yet, I bought this book. By the tenth lesson he was reading Dr. Seuss books and has been going from there. I recommend this to anyone who wants to teach their child to read.
Rating: Summary: My daughter has had great success with this book. Review: My daughter was reading almost immediately after using this book. She was having difficulty in the classroom and her teacher recommended using this book. We have had great success. I want to learn about more books similiar to this one in the area of mathematics. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC FOR A CHILD THAT DESIRES TO LEARN Review: I started this book on the advice of a friend, seeing how her child was reading. My 5 year old is so confidant and proud of herself. She begs to go on to the next lesson and even enjoys showing others how she can read. What a joy to have such a resource for a child who is getting a bit bored with pre-school! My daughter is always wanting to learn more and this is just the thing she needed!!!!
