Summary: No worth your money or time - but read the first one!
Review: I was extremely disappointed with the second Baby Wise book. I loved the first one and pretty much followed it for my now 5 month old daughter and she did sleep through the night just at 7 weeks! Which was amazing. Coming off that high, I was eager to read the second book to see what insights the authors had to offer. My opinion is that the first book was so good and popular, they wrote a second book without much original thought. The authors re-hash the first book and some of the "ethics" lessons (this book focuses on behavior and ethics) they give are a bit, shall we say draconian. Don't waste your money, flip through it in the bookstore and buy yourself a nice thriller or murder mystery instead!

Summary: Try your insticts instead of this book.
Review: We had every intention of following this book to a tee when our son arrived. Several friends had raved about the system so we were gung-ho on it. We read the book, did the planning and got as ready as we could. Then our son arrived and everything changed.

There some very good ideas that work in this book - parent directed feeding, etc. but the majority of it just wasn't practical or useful to us. What made the biggest difference in making our baby happy and comfortable was holding him and comforting him when he needed it - not by being stubbornly drawn to this "formula" for success. He's sleeping happily through the night at 8 weeks.

Summary: I have a happy, loved baby!!!
Review: I Followed the babywise way from the start - it was highly recommended by many friends with children who slept well and easy, and were perfectly happy. As an Occupaitonal Therapist, I read the book critically, but it all made sense to me. Then I tried it with my son, and found that he responded exactly as the book said - he slept through the night since he was 7 weeks old, and have ever since, he takes 2 good naps a day, and his daycare lady claims she has never come across a baby that has been as happy, contented, and easygoing as my son. He smiles and coos when he sees me, gives me loads of hugs and kisses, loves getting them back, and he knows who his mommy is and that I will meet his needs. On the other hand, I know exactly when he's going to be hungry, and he always eats well. I know that when he cries at a certain time, it's time for bed - we both know, and I always know exactly what he needs. I have a friend who feeds her baby every time he cries, her baby hardly ever naps, even has a hard time going to sleep at night, and is always cranky. It is clear to me that mine is the happier baby.

Summary: Babywise
Review: As a mother of premature triplet girls, Babywise helped us get our girls to sleep through the night at about 13 weeks. Our girls were already on a schedule in the hospital, so this was natural for them They all thrived extremely well and had no health problems in the hospital or at home. The Babywise philosophy has many similarities to that of Dr. Marc Weissbluth and Dr. Richard Ferber, in my opinion. All of these authors helped us in many ways.

Summary: Truly a helpful book!!
Review: This book did make a wonderful difference for us. My first baby slept through the night at 7 weeks. She is now 4 years old and a happy, sweet, well behaved little girl. The basic ideas of the book about setting up routine and schedule for babies worked really well for us. Whenever she cried or fussed, we knew exactly what she needed. No guessing. We are now taking the same ideas we used on our first daughter and applying them to our 3 week old. I don't care about the religion of the author or the controversy about his credentials. The principles of the book are solid and make sense. Of course, as with everything else having to do with babies, you should pick and choose the information that works for your family. We didn't agree with everything in the book, in fact there were quite a few ideas in the book that we felt strongly were NOT right for us, but agreed that a routine would be good for our babies since it set a pattern of predictability that I think is very good and healthy for them and us.

Summary: On Becoming Babywise
Review: As a mother of twins I read many books to help my children sleep through the night. I found some of Ezzo's suggestions helpful in getting through a difficult situation. As a parent you read alot of information and it is up to you as a parent to evaluate and use what material will work for you. As with all books I have read on parenting I did not agree with everything but I was able to take from the reading suggestions that would work for me. My twins are 13 weeks old and both are sleeping at least 6 hours through the night. They were born at 3 1/2 and 4 pounds and now they are 11 and 13 pounds. Thank you Mr. Ezzo for your help.

Summary: My kids are thriving on it, and happy and sweet too!
Review: Babywise is a blessing. My kids can get themselves to sleep, have great manners and are always complemented on their happiness and contentment. All my kids became fat chunky cute babies that were breastfed on a routine. The doctors cannot believe how advanced my one month old was at his last appointment. He was cooing, smiling on purpose, and is growing like crazy. He barely fusses, so some crying before sleep isn't any harm. I work my way into the concepts and some things i am leaving out, but for the most part, babywise has kept my kids ages 4, 3, 1, and 1 month, happy and content. People ask, how do i do it? (handle so many young kids) And, your kids are so well behaved and happy. And, i can give a lot of credit to Gary Ezzo. I bought his Christian version off his website, Gfi.org, and it is even better! New moms -- it is the best thing for everyone in the family!

Summary: DON'T LISTEN TO THE NEGITIVITY
Review: I did Baby Wise for no other reason than it was recommended to me by nummerous people. I breast fed and followed the book (feeding every 2 hours to begin with and working my way to feeding every 4 when we started on formula) and just let me tell you - I have the happiest baby in the world, who I am bonded to, who sleeps and eats. I see no Clut in this I see a very happy baby. Get over yourselves...

Summary: do not buy this book
Review: I purchased this book, read it from cover to cover, and cannot say that I found one piece of good information. Refering to examples of imaginary children? No medical training much less ANY college degree? Links to dehydration? Do Not Buy This Book! I would resell mine, but I'd rather be out the five bucks that it's NOT worth than give it to anyone else to read. Do your research! ezzo.info

Summary: Gary Ezzo has no credentials!
Review: Gary Ezzo started his program at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA. The Church has recently evaluated and discontinued all programs of Gary's. The Ezzo's have absolutely no medical training. They are Evangelical Christians who believe the man makes all decisions in the household. The American Accademy of Pediatrics advised against the material in Baby Wise. Much has been written by different groups about Baby Wise being linked to dehydration, failure to thrive. It's easy enough to do a quick search on the author to see that his book promotes his theology beliefs. He was excommunicated from the Grace Church.
