Summary: We never bought any other book once we got this book
Review: This book, given as a compliment by our Pediatrician on the first visit, we never even thought of buying any other book. Easy to read and refer. Very informative and helpful.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Definitely the best
Review: Being a new parent has it's anxieties. Therefore, I purchased a lot of books on parenting. I find this particular book very helpful in all aspects. It is the most comprehensive book on parenting that I've read so far. I'm glad I have this book to be my guide for my child's early years.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Resource Throughout Baby's First Year
Review: This book has come in handy for all of my questions and concerns. It has useful sections on development in different age stages, and the back section of the book goes into detail about infant and child illnesses. This health section in the back has been useful when I've tried to determine whether to call my child's pediatrician or what might help my child feel better, as well as how long he might be contagious. The sections on development have useful checklists too. It's the only parenting book I've purchased so far. I usually just check them out from the library but it is well worth purchasing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best parents reference around!
Review: We have 2 children, and out of all the baby books we own (many!) this is the book we turn to over and over again. Great developmental sections, and excellent medical references, as well as much more. I highly recommend this book to any parents of children under 5!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Ecellant reference for new parents
Review: As a pediatric nurse, I recommend this book to all new parents. I now give this as a shower gift to all my friends! (This also keeps them from calling me so much!) I also recommend the other books in the series.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Perfect for first time moms!
Review: I'm halfway through my first pregnancy, and didn't have a clue as to what to expect when I bring the baby home. From what I've read so far (what to expect in the hospital, what to buy in preparation for the baby, what to expect when baby comes home, etc.), this book is already preparing me. There's so much I didn't know! Now I know what to expect, as well as when to immunize, when do babies start cutting teeth, when do I put baby in a high chair, etc. I knew NOTHING, but now I feel prepared. I really recommend this book!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: We order copies of this book for our friends
Review: This is a great 2am friend when you are looking for information about your child. The text is easy to read and follow and does not make you panic like many medical text can. Rather it gives sound information of what to do for sick child.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Thorough and Invaluable Reference for Parents
Review: When my daughter was born I tried to find the follow-up book for "What to Expect When You're Expecting" but could not find it since I was living in Egypt at the time. But, while looking I happened upon this treasure trove of information and decided to buy it.

I have been very glad I made that choice. This was especially true when my daughter's first doctor tried to convince me that my daughter wasn't getting enough milk. Because I had read the first chapter carefully, I KNEW that my daughter was eating well and re-gaining weight at a normal rate for a one week old baby. If I had not read this book in advance, I might have been tempted to put my daughter on a bottle. Thank goodness this book was so thorough in explaining the development of young children!

This book is JAMMED with vital information and advice about childrens overall development and specific health concerns. Granted, it was a bit unsettling to read all of the descriptions of symptoms of various serious medical conditions - but parenting is a case where what you don't know CAN kill you or your loved one!

Of course, no book can replace a living, breathing doctor, but given the book's endorsement by the AAP certainly makes me feel better about relying on it and recommending it to my friends. This book is a must have for your parenting library!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great mix of pediatric and parenting information
Review: This book is much more than a medical reference book. It includes a lot of helpful guidance on parenting your child through the first five years of life. This is one of the most used books in my parenting library. Every parent should own a copy.
