Summary: Wow - what a speaker.
Review: I heard Joy speak at a Marriott Senior Living program last night and I am so impressed - with Joy and her book. She laid it on the line and talked in a way that I understood - simple language.

Today I made a call to my financial advisor to talk about financing my long-term care and my mother's care. Little did I know before I read Joy's book and heard her speak that there are many things I can do right now to make sure my family doesn't go to the poor house to get Mom the care she needs when the time comes. I love this book.

Summary: planning for myself to have control as much as possible
Review: I met Joy at a conference last week, and I had no intention of going to her family caregiver workshop since both of my parents died several years back. I wish I had her book back then. Joy and I started talking at the pre-conference dinner and she asked me what plans I had in place for myself regarding long-term care. I went into a cold sweat. My response was I hadn't even thought about it. The more we talked the more I realized that not having any plans in place means my future well being is up for grabs. I ended up going to her workshop and buying her book. I'm not a complicated guy but I do like to have control of my life. Joy's book is great if you want to know what is likely to happen down the road and actions I can take to continue to have as much control as possible. I also realized that since I don't have children and I am not married I need to get my future plans in order. I give this book and Joy's workshop five stars. Easy to understand and a lot of resources and options.

Summary: No guesswork!
Review: I only wish I had a copy of this book earlier when I was taking care of Mom. Now, I'm helping my Dad and am finding that this book is an invaluable resource. No guesswork. Everything I need is here. What a relief. Buy two and give one to a friend.

Summary: Thank god for this book
Review: I recentely had to care for my ailing father. The calm, straightforward presentation offered by Ms. Loverde helped keep the untold details in perspective. The extensive and thorough checklist in the book helped keep things organized during a difficult period. A great resource. I only wish I had gotten it earlier and followed through on her suggestions.

Summary: For older people too
Review: I saw Joy on television and then I bought the book. I love this book because I never felt like I was leaving anything out and taking care of my husband was less confusing because of the checklists in the book. I am also giving my grown children a list of my important papers to make it easier on them later on. I highly recommend this book for oldsters like me. I am 82.

Summary: My Bible
Review: I wanted you to know how much your book has meant to my friend. When I told her to get it, she ordered it right away and from the looks of it, she absorbed about every page. She has about 20 different colored tabs marking the pages and she said it's been about the only thing that's kept her sane during this difficult time. She said, "I made it my little Bible ...it's such a blessing that Joy wrote this book!"

Summary: got me through my eldercare emergency
Review: I was at work when I got the call from the hospital that Mom had a stroke and was taken there unexpectedly. Needless to say I was totally unprepared for this to happen. I picked up a copy of The Complete Eldercare Planner in the hospital gift shop. EVERYTHING I needed to know and do for Mom and for myself was in this book... questions to ask the doctor and discharge planner, finding affordable care for Mom at home, legal documents so I could make decisions for Mom. I found the documents chapter of the book and the checklists very very helpful. I was in a lot of stress at the time and I just followed the plans. I always felt like I was in good hands. And I was. Another great thing about this book is the way the author gives tips on talking about sensitive subjects. I followed Joy's advice on how to open up the conversation because we needed to talk to Mom about maybe moving into an assisted-living home and the talking tips worked! I highly recommend this book -- it's fast and to the point which is great if you are busy and also hold down a job and also have your own family to think about. I was able to put an eldercare budget together based on Joy's ideas. This book gives you every single thing you need to think about if you're planning or in the middle of an emergency. I could go on and on. Just don't leave home without it.

Summary: By far my favorite
Review: I'm the corporate marketing director for Somerford Assisted Living and Alzheimer Care.... I recently ordered several books... looking for an appropriate book to give away to families who come to tour our facility and attend our open house. Your book, the Eldercare
Planner, was by far my favorite. GREAT JOB! I especially liked the sections on Communicaring and Housing. We are planning
several great events in October and would like to use your book as a gift.

Summary: I'm not alone
Review: I've been taking care of my mom (she lives with me) for the past year and when she fell in the back yard I was a basket case. I had gone to one of Joy's workshops on eldercare (her program is wonderful and helpful) and I bought her book. When Mom needed help this book literally helped me every step of the way. The questions to ask doctors was extremely helpful. Joy's book is a life saver.
